Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "Diesel's Special Delivery" from Season 14. Enjoy and comment.

It was Market Day on the Island of Sodor. All the engines were very busy, taking freight cars full of fruit and vegetables to Market Day.

Diesel wasn't going to Market Day. He was taking slate to the school, since the school roof was leaking, and it was going to rain.

The roof needed the slate to stop the leak.

Diesel clanked into Maithwaite Station, where James was waiting.

Children were clapping and cheering, and James felt very proud.

"People have clapped and cheered for me all day!" boasted James. "I am the finest engine on Sodor!"

"What's so special?" asked Diesel.

Then, Diesel saw that James was taking piglets to Farmer Trotter's farm.

"Why don't people never clap and cheer for me?"

"Because you're a diesel!" laughed James as he tooted away.

This made Diesel very cross.

Diesel wanted to be clapped and cheered for too.

Then, he saw Thomas. He was puffing to Market Day with fresh, shiny apples.

"Where are you going with those apples?" asked Diesel.

"To Market Day." replied Thomas as he steamed away.

Then, Diesel had an idea.

"If I take the apples, people are sure to clap and cheer for me!"

So, Diesel oiled up to Thomas.

"I can take your apples to Market Day!"

Thomas was pleased.

"Of course Diesel!" said Thomas.

So, Diesel left his slate in a siding, and was coupled up to Thomas's freight cars full of apples.

In no time, Diesel hurried off, hoping that everyone would clap and cheer for him.

At Maron Station, Diesel saw James again.

Children were clapping and cheering for him and his piglets!

But nobody clapped for Diesel and his apples.

This made Diesel crosser than ever.

"I thought my apples were nicer than James's piglets." he thought to himself.

James puffed away.

"I'm sure to find something else that will make people clap and cheer!"

Diesel oiled away.

Then, Diesel saw Rosie. She was pulling a flatbed of flowers.

"Are you taking those flowers to Market Day?" asked Diesel.

"Yes I am!" said Rosie. "I must hurry!"

Then, Diesel had another idea.

"If I take the flowers, people will clap and cheer for me!"

Rosie agreed to let Diesel take her flowers.

Diesel was coupled up to the flatbed of flowers, and he set off, hoping that people would clap and cheer for him.

Diesel felt very happy.

Then, Diesel saw James again at a crossing.

Children were clapping and cheering him again!

Diesel stopped with his flowers and apples, but nobody clapped and cheered for him.

This made Diesel upset.

"I thought these apples and flowers would sure to get people to clap and cheer."

Diesel dropped the apples and flowers off at Market Day, then crossly set off for home.

On his way, he passed Farmer Trotter's farm, and saw the piglets.

This gave Diesel a very special idea.

"If I take James's piglets to the schoolchildren, they will clap and cheer!"

So he coupled up to James's piglets, and he set off as fast as he could.

Diesel arrived at the schoolyard, where children were waiting.

But they weren't clapping and cheering. They were wet and worried.

Diesel knew what was wrong.

"They need a new roof!"

Then, Sir Topham Hatt arrived on board Thomas.

"What are you doing Diesel?" he asked. "You are causing confusion and delay!"

"I'm sorry sir." said Diesel. "I was hoping the children would clap and cheer after seeing the piglets."

"You were supposed to collect the slate for the new school roof! Now, you must get things fixed!"

Diesel went to collect the slate.

Diesel soon arrived with the slate.

The children were happy, and they all clapped and cheered for Diesel!

"Hooray for Diesel!" they cheered.

Diesel had never felt happier.
