Because I'm still not over it :'(Ever Dream
'...I would rather die, than be with you, Guy of Gisborne.'
'No - '
Marian laughed, 'I'm going to marry Robin Hood,' she declared, her eyes growing bright as the words passed her lips, forever tainting them. 'I love Robin Hood.'
No. He had misheard, he must have.
Marian belonged with him, Marian loved him.
Her gaze met his - mocking him in the rapture it held - and the words spilled forth once more; what he'd long suspected, what he had feared and fought hard to deny: 'I love Robin Hood.'
The smile on her face was more than he could bear.
She shuddered as the blade plunged into her yielding flesh - crying out as he drove it deeper still; catching her to him in one final embrace, as close as lovers.
No more words, only her choking gasps, his own laboured breaths. His breaking heart.
Marian...
Blood bloomed warm beneath his fingers, still clutching the sword's hilt.
What had he done?
His eyes desperately sought hers - finding only hatred and hurt within them.
And then he let her fall...
NO! -
Guy awoke with a start, heart thumping violently into the silence of the room, damp with sweat; momentarily disorientated.
Marian -
He stretched out a trembling hand, breathing a deep, relieved sigh as his fingers touched warm, soft skin. Marian slept peacefully beside him, dimly visible in the pre-dawn light, untroubled by dream or night-terror.
He had not meant to wake her, but she stirred as he leant in to tenderly kiss her brow, knew with a woman's intuition that something was amiss. 'Guy... What is it?'
He pulled her to him, held her safe in his arms. 'I dreamed... unpleasant things. You were not here with me...'
She heard the quaver in his voice, and her fingers brushed his lips, halting him. 'I am here,' Marian whispered, 'And I am yours, Guy. I always was.'
