Mr. Popo watered the flowers on this unusually quite day. He hadn't any1 all day, not even Dende.
"I wander where the young guardian has gotten off to?" He wondered allowed.
Suddenly, Gohan came bursting onto the Lookout.
"Mr. Popo! Come quick! Dende's in trouble!"
Without a word Mr. Popo hopped on his magic carpet and followed Gohan to his house.
"Where is he?" Popo asked urgently as he barged into the house and-
"SURPRISE!"
Popo's eyes were wide with it (surprise that is).
"Wha-What's all this?" He asked wonderingly.
"It's a surprise party for you Mr. Popo." Gohan said. "We were talking and realized just how important you are to us."
"And you showed us that room to the past to train in before the Sayins arrived" Said Krillin.
"You gave us that ship to go to Namek." Bulma said, finding it necessary to add her two cents.
"Yeah. And you always know just what to do."
"Like how to rid the world of the black water mist." Said Gohan.
Popo remembered that day, which mostly consisted of him and Kami running like bats outta Hell.
"It was you that showed us the Hyperbolic Time Chamber when Cell arrived."
"You suggested we teach Goten and Trunks the fusion dance."
Piccolo wasn't sure if that was necessarily a good thing.
"And you saved my life when Buu attacked." Said Dende, with no small amount of gratitude.
"Yeah!" Chimed in Goten. "And you're a pretty good fighter too." *
"And you can make one mean meal."Added Goku, to which everyone laughed.
"Oh, you did all this... For me?" Popo asked, wiping away a threatening tear.
"Yep. Surprise Mr. Popo."
And Popo had a fun time, until he noticed one figure silently sneak away. He followed.
"Piccolo?"
He stopped at the old Genie's voice.
"Yes, Mr. Popo?"
For a moment, Popo thought he heard the tired strain of Kami's voice in the Namek.
"You, had something to do with this, didn't you?"
Piccolo took a deep sigh. Not wanting to say what was on his mind, but he had respect for the old genie. And had gained a sort of soft spot for him. Darn Kami...
"Popo, despite all that happens, you always seem to know just what to do to lighten a situation. Even if its just by cooking a meal. You're always there, no matter what. We all know that no matter what happens, we can go to the Lookout and you'll be there, to do whatever you can to help. You're a true friend Mr. Popo. You don't fight like the rest of us, but we would be lost without you."
Piccolo finally turned to face the foreman, and almost smirked. "Everyone deserves their day in the sun. Now go back inside. You're missing your party."
And with that Piccolo flew off. Neither really knew what made him say that. Perhaps it was a bit of Kami pressing to 'speak' with his old friend. They would never be sure. But Piccolo knew that what was said would stay between them. It always did with Mr. Popo.
The Genie watched as Piccolo flew away, then returned inside to enjoy his day in the sun.
*In one episode, Popo fought (or blocked) Trunks and Goten, who thought he was bad at the time.
