When they were six years old, she found out they had the same birthday, and threw a fit because they had to share a cake. He didn't want to share either, but the screaming girl fascinated him for some reason.

When they were seven years old, they became friends. She knew he was a career and therefore had no feelings (after all, her sister had been killed by one that year), but she still hung out with him.

When they were eight, she slapped him, and he broke her arm. She kicked him in the balls, like her father told her to do, and ran home crying. Not that he would admit it, the boy felt bad, and apologized the next day, and signed her pink cast.

When they were nine, she started to train. If he did, why couldn't she? Her talent was with a knife, and his was with a sword, making them the perfect team.

When they were ten, he started to get taller, until he passed her. She was mad, and told her mother she wanted to be tall to. Her mother told her that some people were taller than others, and she would grow too.

When they were eleven, her name was put into the Reaping ball, even though she wasn't old enough. The problem was solved, and later he told her he would miss her if she died.

When they were twelve, her mother and father died, and she went to live with him, after all he was almost family.

When they were thirteen, they had their first real fight, because the victor that year went crazy. He said if she had been a boy, she would have bee okay, and the girl didn't talk to him for a month.

When they were fourteen, she had her first boyfriend, a boy one year older that her. He hated this boy, his best friend deserved better than him. She cared about the idiot, so the boy left him alone.

When they were fifteen, her boyfriend volunteered for the Games, she broke up with him in the Justice building and laughed when he died. He was secretly glad that the older boy was dead, and told the girl she could do better.

When they were sixteen, he got a girlfriend. She was secretly jealous, and envied the girl, for being everything she wasn't. He didn't tell her, but he only went out with the other girl to make her feel the way he did when she got a boyfriend.

When they were seventeen, they had their golden birthday. His parents were gone, and everyone was drinking. They got drunk, and slept with each other. When they realized it, they fought, and she didn't talk to him for a year.

When they were eighteen, he volunteered, and she did too. If he thought boys were stronger than girls, well she would change his mind. Right before she stabbed him through the heart with a knife.

When they were nineteen, they were in the Games, just three weeks after their last reaping. April 17 was not a happy day, although nobody else realized just how bad it was. She got her head bashed in with a rock, and he sat by her as she died, begging her to hold on.

And Clove die without ever getting to say a real goodbye.
