Disclaimer: Not even remotely mine...Okay, the random names of the soap opera characters are, but I really don't want them.
Author's Note: And here I thought my creativity was broken! Apparently I can still pull random bits and pieces out, just nothing I need to. Only two more creative projects and six finals, and it's Christmas break! I can't wait! Oh, I rated it 'T', because I didn't think it was an 'M', but didn't think it was a 'K+'. Please tell me if you decide to report it so I can fix it. Thanks! Anyway, here is...
Thrice Cursed Hormones
An obviously pregnant Harry Potter sat on his living room couch, watching the television he had insisted they get when they first moved in. He was watching soap operas.
He had decided he needed a break from all the stress. Draco had announced just that morning that he would most likely have to go on week long business trip. Harry's eyes had welled with tears. He was certain that the trip was just an excuse to get away from him and all his weird food cravings and aches and mood swings and complaints. Draco had immediately run off to work after telling Harry this, thereby confirming his 'suspicion,' which he knew, deep down, was mostly hormones.
"Jack, how could you!" he moaned at the television as the man on screen walked away from Dehlila, who was now huddled on the couch, sobbing. Harry felt his eyes water again. 'Damn hormones,' he thought, but for some reason, that only made the need to cry more imminent. He frantically squeezed his eyes shut, hoping to hold back tears, and was marginally successful.
Just ten minutes later, however, he was screaming at the television as Maggie cheated on Greg, one of his favorite characters, with Charles, on of his least favorite. "I can't believe her!" he fumed to himself. "Or me," he added, feeling more tears well up. He quickly squeezed his eyes shut again.
Only seconds after he opened them, they were once again filled with tears. Yvonne had just pulled a soap opera classic and come back to life, thereby ruining any chance of a relationship between Beth and Joshua. This time, not only were the waterworks back, but he was actually growling at the screen. "Can't fucking believe them," he muttered mutinously, clamping his eyes shut once more.
Two hours and two soap operas later, Bridget had just saved her best friend's, Joannie's, life, and his eyes were moist yet again. Suddenly, the door opened, and he hastily wiped his eyes, switched off the television, and levered himself up so he could meet whoever had just come in. 'Hopefully it's Hermione or Ginny,' he thought, not exactly in the mood for any male companionship at the moment. It was neither of them, however.
Draco met him at the doorway from the front hall to the living room, sweeping him into an unexpected hug.
"I thought you had to leave," Harry asked, bewildered.
"I told them I couldn't go," Draco said simply, pulling Harry close. "I told them I was needed at home."
Harry's eyes welled up again, and this time he couldn't stop the flow of tears. "Thrice cursed hormones," Harry muttered under his breath. Draco laughed, wiping away his tears.
