The Situation Room: Preface

"Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together."

~Vincent van Gogh

Scorpius Malfoy stood behind his father, who stood proudly on the podium. The flashing lights of the cameras almost blinded him, but his father was not fazed.

"It is time we stand strong in the face of our enemies. It is time for your government to do the very thing it was created for - to protect your liberties from those who seek to take it from you! It is time for change!" Draco Malfoy spoke, his voice rising with his passion.

Scorpius could see the signs surrounding his mother and father on the stage and in front of him in the crowd.

Malfoy for President.

The crowd cheered, and the cameras began flashing in an almost non-stop stream.

Why did this feel so wrong?

Lily Potter was discreetly looking at her mother while her father made his speech. The stage floor was shiny, which illuminated the lights, giving Ginevra Potter a fierce and beautiful look about her. Lily could never imitate that. And that would be an issue.

This was where she belonged - this was worth all the pain, sweat and tears. And in a few years, Lily hoped that the signs in front of her would repeat their message.

Potter for President.

A/N: Okay, so what did you think? Tell me all! Were all the returning people in character? Was my writing totally horrible?

The Situation Room is -I know! - an American political story. In case you didn't guess, it's also all Muggle. It spawned from my hate of reading stories where politics are a big part of the plot, yet none are mentioned.

This is part of a little experiment that I'm doing. Basically, I've got too many Scorpily stories in my head, so I've written a chapter about each of them. Since I want to commit to only one story at a time, I'm posting one chapter for each plot up. You all read, and at the end of the month, whichever story has the most reviews is the one I'll commit to. So, if you're intrigued by this, it's in your best interest to review!
