The Summoning
The Real Derek
He looked out over the valley. This was the place. He started walking quickly, always quickly. If he didn't the police would catch him for all of his crimes. And he needed to hurry because Simon would be done with his shower in twenty minutes, which would be enough time to hide the body and get back to Lyle House, if he ran. He started running as he saw his hidey-hole for unsuspecting civilians but had to stop as the girl he was dragging over gravel started to bleed. She was dead, of course. It wasn't his fault that she had screamed when he told her not to. But if she continued to bleed, someone might see the trail of blood and find the bodies. He cursed as he picked her up, he either had to work out more or start picking anorexic victims.
He shoved her into the crevasse and introduced her to her rotting roommates, then sprinted off. He had gotten some of her blood on his shirt, so when he entered town he went into a store at some strip mall, bought a new one without looking at what it said, and was reading a book in his room by the time Simon knocked on his door.
"Hey bro, what's hap—umm, Derek, what happened to your shirt?"
"I got a stain on it, so I put a new on one."
"Okaaaaaay… did you hear we have a new patient at the group home, her name is Chloe and I heard she's cute. We all get to meet her at supper."
Supper time…..
"Lets start with introductions; the really buff guy over there is Simon, the girl with the purple hair is Liz and you shouldn't talk to her because she hates people, I'm Tori, the scrawny guy who needs to work out more is Derek and if he gives off the serial killer vibe it's because he's emo, obviously, and Rae just died in some kind of accident that no one knows about! So with the boring part over, tell us more about you!"
"Well, I'm Chloe, and I like your shirt Derek. I didn't know guys shopped at Victoria's Secret too, but it looks good on you"
What is she talking about, he thought; I do not shop there, for Christ's sake I'm emo! Oh shit, he thought as he looked down. I guess that's what happens when you get a person's blood on your shirt, walk into a random store and buy a shirt without looking. Or it could be karma. It was apparently coming in the form of a shirt that was cut low to show maximum cleavage. It was hot pink with line green lettering that said be as sexy as me, share the secret. Victoria's Secret.
"Well, being emo is all about torturing yourself from the inside, right, so I decided to wear the ugliest thing I could buy. Does it really look good on me?"
"Umm, yah, totally… so who is Rae and what happened to her?" curiosity, always a bad thing, she should just ask Rae. Oops, Rae is dead, he thought morbidly.
"Nobody knows, gosh weren't you listening! One day she was going about her business, examining stuff and then setting it on fire—that's what pyros' do, ya know—and the next day she was gone. Ms Talbot thinks she was taken by the serial killer that's roaming around the city. It's kind of creepy, right. I mean, he or she could be right under our noses, and we would never know."
"I didn't know that you could ever be so friendly that it got creepy, but congratulations, Tori, you have officially changed my mind. Damn, don't you ever shut up?"
"What a fine introduction for a fine girl to a fine mental home. Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to show Chloe to her room before she get too scared to ever leave it again. Sorry you had to meet Tori when she forgot to take her pills again, Clo," Simon smiled and escorted her to her room with a charming grace that Derek envied. If he wasn't his best friend, Simon would be dead by now. But they are best friends, and you don't kill your best friend, no matter how well you can hide the bodies.
