Het Pairing Boot Camp: Prompt Use – glue

Harry seemed to be the glue that held the Golden trio together, and frankly, he was sick of the responsibility. He wished someone else could take the role as friendship holder together. He wanted a sick day from it.

When he was with Susan though, he didn't need to be that. She worked as hard on their relationship as Harry. It wasn't solely up to him to keep it going, something which was a massive relief.

He and Susan held hands as they walked to their tree. He loved holding her hand. Her skin was so soft and smooth. And they way it curled into his hold, gripping his own hand with equal intensity, just made it so right that he wanted to sigh in happiness.

When they sat down in the shade, Susan flipped her glorious red hair over her shoulder. "Want to talk?"

"You know, when my dad was in school, from what Remus told me, he was the one who kept the Marauders together and out of trouble. I'm following in his footsteps and it's exhausting."

Susan moved from where she was sitting so she could sit right next to Harry and rested her head on his shoulder. "Then take a break. If you feel like they're taking you for granted, you should tell them. They're your best friends, but everyone can sometimes forget to appreciate what they have. They're not bad friends; they're just human. Everyone makes mistakes."

Harry nodded. He kissed her cheek. She turned her head and devoured his lips in a real kiss. Harry angled his head and lifted his hand to hold her mouth to his.

When they broke apart, both of them panted lightly, trying to remember where they were, and the fact they weren't alone.

Harry pressed a soft kiss to her forehead, her bangs causing a ticklish sensation to his cheek. "Thanks, you always make everything seem so simple, and with how hard my life truly is, I need that."

Susan smiled and tilted her face up so she could kiss the corner of his mouth. "No problem."

Harry smiled and kept hold of her. He'd talk to Ron and Hermione that night, but right then, he just wanted to relax with his girlfriend.
