"Hermione, I love you with all my soul," he murmured in a sinister undertone, his fine black brows staying absolutely immobile in his waxy, impassive face.
"Oh Sev, I love you too!" Hermione cried, her brown eyes filling with tears of joy. Hermione flung her arms around him and he stood there rather stiffly.
"At last, at long last," muttered Severus icily, "the dark pain of my soul has been erased. Erased forever, like the effects of a Sleeping Draught after one has drunk the Enervating Elixir. Erased by the power of your love."
"Oh Sev!" cried Hermione. "Don't you mean the Energising Elixir?" His face darkened.
"No, you little fool," he replied, his voice saturated with scorn. "Do you honestly think that in all my years of study, I would mistake an Energising Elixir for an Enervating Elixir?"
"But Sev!" Hermione exclaimed. "I could have sworn that the Enervating Elixir is used to counteract cases of paralysis or fainting, magically-induced or otherwise, whereas the Energising Elixir is employed in the case of fatigue or to combat the effects of a sleeping draught!" Snape's lips twitched in fury.
"That's it, you horse-faced little bitch," he spat. "I won't take this insolence from you. Not as a student... and certainly not as a lover." His cold eyes roamed up her figure mockingly. "Not that you were ever anything remarkable in the latter capacity." Hermione flushed, and opened her mouth to speak. He cut her off. "See you in class, Miss Granger." He gave her a strange smile and strode off down the corridor, his robes flapping and swirling behind him.
