"Akari." My mother whispered in a low tone. I slowly opened my eyes to reveal my golden-brown eyes. "Honey, get up." I arose from the mattress, which seemingly hugged my body.
I was a mare replication of my mother, and I was always told that I looked exactly like my mother at the age of four.
"Mommy?" I tearfully breathed the title of my adult figure, extending my child-like arm to hold her hand. "Where are we going mommy?"
"To your friend's house."
"But why mommy?" My mother just gently led me to the car and started it up. I felt my chocolate, honey eyes sting of tears as my chestnut, shoulder-length hair gently blew in the wind from the slightly open window. I shut my eyes, letting the salty liquid roll down my flushed face. I knew my parents were fighting again, and I felt helpless. Someone at the age of four cannot change what has already begun. Once my eyes opened once more, I was in my mother's arms, tucking me in next to my best friend. He was one year older than me, but we had known each other for as long as we could remember. My mother left me there for two months, never returning to the residence of my peer and his father.
Two months after that night, I was sauntering by the kitchen when I overheard a familiar voice.
"I know it's hard to wrap your mind around, but we can't deny that she's gone."
"But what about Akari? What will happen with her."
"She will live with me. The murder of her mother is devastating, but she needs a secure place to live. She needs a blood relative of her mother, not you." Murder of my mother? My mom wasn't dead. She promised me she would come back. As I listened in on the conversation the entire story came clear. My aunt was going to take me away because my father killed my mother and then committed suicide. My own flesh and blood was gone. I was taken away by my aunt, soon forgetting everything about my past, Names and all. I moved to a new island on my seventeenth birthday, and for the first time since then, I had friends. Romance, hatred and murder... my life was just beginning.
