Mirkwood
The entrance was an archway, silent and forbidding. Birds avoided this forest and beasts did not dwell there. The path leading into this suffocating jungle seemed to go on forever. The trees were dark, gloomy and forlorn, and their leaves were black and sickly. Dark green lichen was hanging on all their bows. Branches blotted out all sunlight. There was no wind or even breeze in here. The forest hiding themselves itself seemed lifeless, except for the occasional black squirrel that moved quietly across its floor. But, although a stranger would not have guessed it, elves lived in this forest, moving more quietly than any squirrel or beast. However, these were not the storytelling, merry elves of other parts. The elves here were silent, cautious, and unfriendly, in the deepest, darkest corner of the forest. For these were elves of Mirkwood, seeing no one and meddling not in others affairs, unless it meant keeping them captive in their dark, leafy fortress.
