Ella loved reading. Which was really unfortunate, because Camp Half Blood didn't have a library. Fortunately, the Athena cabin had a fairly large selection. But, Ella had read them all fairly quickly. So she was left, flying around camp in a daze, muttering random lines from random books in English, French, Latin, Ancient Greek, and something that sounded suspiciously like Russian according to Malcolm.
Luckily, she happened to have an amazing boyfriend. Tyson took her into his cabin and told her countless stories that he'd made up on his own. And, considering his fairly low mental status, they were amazing. Other campers had gone to him in their spare time to hear them.
His most famous story was about a knight who wasn't brave or courageous, but had a big heart. He ended up getting saved by the princess from a fire breathing dragon, and they fell in love.
"So, he fell off his horse, and it ran away." He said to Ella "He was able to crawl to a cave, where he wanted to stay for a night. But then, he heard a big RRROOOAARR!" He'd shouted the last part, and even though Ella had heard this particular story many times, she still jumped.
"Ella loves Tyson. Tyson did not want to scare Ella. Ella is safe. Ella is safe." She mumbled to herself, over and over
"The not very brave knight fell down. He looked up and he saw a big, mean, scary dragon staring at him. He thought it was going to eat him."
This part always scared Ella, so she leaned closer into Tyson.
"The dragon walked out of the cave. It was very, very big, and as tall as a mountain, with scales the colour of fire! It came out and smelled the knight, who was super scared. But, suddenly, a pretty princess named Ella ran up and saved him! The end!"
Ella perked up, this was her favourite part. She absolutely loved how Tyson described her in the story. It wasn't at all like how she was in real life. He described her as brave and courageous, but in reality, Ella was more of a damsel in distress.
"Why do you like me?" She asked Tyson out of the blue
"What does Ella mean?"
"Why do you like me? I'm not pretty, or brave, or kind, or funny."
"No, you aren't. Because, you're beautiful, heroic, loving, and hilarious." Tyson told her "And that's why I love you."
Right then, he kissed her. It was Ella's first kiss, not counting all the times he'd given her quick little pecks on the cheek.
"All better?" He asked as they broke away
"All better."
