You could always tell when the Sunny was nearing a winter island. Most of the crew could sleep through the weather change, but you always wound up awake at an odd hour of the night.

You shivered and swung your legs over the edge of your bed, careful not to wake the other girls as your bare feet touched the icy wood floor. There really wasn't a warm room on the ship for you to escape to, but you could do the next best thing.

Nami had grown accustomed to the strange weather changes on the Grand Line. As such, she made sure Sanji kept the pantry stocked with hot chocolate whenever he shopped for supplies. She let you and Robin in on it, mainly because you were her closest friends on the crew and she was aware of how you in particular were sensitive to the cold.

You stepped out into the open air, shivering even more as you no longer had even the comfort of Nami and Robin's body heat emanating off the walls of an enclosed space. You took in the sight before you, wrapping your arms around yourself. Unhindered by the lights of an island, countless stars illuminated the night sky, bringing your attention to the snowflakes drifting lazily to the deck. The beginnings of snow brought on another bout of shivering, and you found yourself wishing you'd put on some shoes.

It's too late now, you told yourself as you scurried quickly to the kitchen. Glancing up at the crow's nest out of pure curiosity, you took note that it was Sanji's turn to keep watch. You absently thought on the order of the next shifts as you made yourself some hot chocolate. Eventually, your thoughts circulated back to Sanji and how cold it must've been up in the crow's nest by himself. He always did nice things for you, you thought fondly as you went ahead and made a second mug. It seemed natural to return the favour.

You finished mixing the beverages and brought them outside with you. You balanced them carefully as you climbed the mainmast to meet Sanji. He jumped and turned his head when the door opened, smiling widely at the sight of you.

"Hello, [NAME], why are you up so late?"

You shivered a little when you saw his breath billow out in a cloud in front of him.

"It's cold: So I thought you'd want something to warm you up."

Sanji's smile stretched into a wide grin as he accepted the mug from you.

"You're so sweet, [NAME]! You woke up in the middle of the night thinking about me?"

You giggled a little.

"You just do so many nice things for me, so I thought I'd switch it up a bit."

Sanji looked at you a moment, obviously giddy at the sentiment.

"Aww, [NAME], you're shivering!" he cooed, opening up the blanket wrapped around him as an invitation. "Why don't you come over here and warm up?"

You hesitated. You knew you should've expected this from him. However, even though Sanji was quick to throw himself at ant woman he saw, you felt compelled to take him up on his offer. Your toes numb, your face red, and your hands clenched tightly around the warm mug, you approached him and sat down. Once you did so, both the blanket and Sanji's arm were draped over your shoulders.

"Better?"

You looked up at the cook, who was sipping at the coco you'd made him, and smiled.

"Yeah," you replied quietly, leaning your head on his shoulder, "this is a lot better than hot chocolate."
