Night Time
Little Pippin was standing inside very large room that was filled with all kinds of treasures including gold, diamond, mithril, and beryl. He wondered how he got there. He was happy that he found all this treasure and wanted to share them with his family and friends.
He started to fill his pockets with the jewels when all of a sudden a very large dragon named Smaug appeared on the other side of the room. Pippin froze in shock and fear and dropped all of the jewels. He walked to the nearest door which was very close and tried to open it, but the door was locked.
Smaug roared and started to chase Pippin around the room. He was trying to breathe fire on him. Pippin was scared. He started to cry He didn't want Smaug to roast him. He was running in slow motion. He turned to face the dragon. Smaug lowered his head and was about to swallow him.
All of a sudden he woke up in his bed. He believed that Smaug was in his bed room.
He ran out of his room and into the dark hallway. He was scared. He wanted to find the room of either for his parents, one of his older sisters, or his favorite cousin Merry who was visiting with his parents. He wanted them to comfort him. He knew that they loved him very much and were willing to comfort him.
He opened the door at the end of the hall and entered Merry's room. Merry was asleep on his bed.
Pippin walked to Merry's bed and nudged Merry awake.
Merry woke up groggily. He saw Pippin staring at him. Pippin looked scared and there were some tears on his face.
"What's the matter?" Merry asked.
"I'm scared."
"Why are you scared?"
"I had a nightmare."
"Nightmare?"
"Smaug was chasing me around the room. He tried to eat me."
Merry wrapped his arms around Pippin and tried to comfort him.
"Shush, there, there it's only a nightmare. It's not real," Merry said soothingly.
"Smaug is not here."
"He's not?" Pippin asked in disbelief.
"No he's not, and if he were here I won't let him get you. I won't let any monster hurt you."
Pippin calmed down, and Merry let go of him.
"Can I sleep with you?"
Merry nodded and pulled the covers back. Pippin crawled in the covers and fell asleep. He felt very safe with Merry and knew Merry wouldn't let Smaug or any other monster hurt him.
