ZERO - System of a down.
Duo looked up into the night sky. He had told Heero about his unnatural feelings for him only yesterday. Just before they had both took off into another battle. Him, in Deathscythe Hell, Heero in Wing ZERO.
Oh, how he loathed to hear about the ZERO system. At first, he thought, it was only a machine.. but he was terribly wrong.
-flashback-
"Heero, what are you doing, you're not going according to plan!!" Duo screamed through the videolink. "What plan? There is no plan. " Heero replied, in a deathly calm voice. It was as if he wasn't even there. What do you mean by no plan Heero!? We made one before we went into battle! You go left, I go right!" Duo said back, brows knitting in confusion.
"I mean exactly what I said. There is no plan. Especially not for us, Duo."
Duo slahed through another mobile suit, trying to comprehend what Heero had mentioned. "There is no plan. Especially not for us, Duo." The sentence ran through his mind. 'Is he rejecting me? Is he actually admitting that he really is in love with that Peacecraft girl?' Duo thought. But he stored that train of thought for later, he could do without it in battle.
Even for Duo, a well-trained Gundam Pilot, he could not keep up with the sheer numbers of mobile suits surrounding him, yet, he would not type in ZERO. Heero told him beforehand that if things got too crazy, to type in those letters. They would activate the ZERO system. 'Not again, not again. I will not do that again.' Duo said to himself, shooting bullets out of the front of the head of his Gundam.
'I don't want to do this, but I do want to live.' Duo thought as he typed in the word "ZERO" on his Gundam's console. A bright flash of light took over the Gundam's cockpit and Duo was blinded. He began to see certain parts of his life all over again, but this time, someone was talking to him as well.
"Kill him." The voice said. Duo replied quickly, "Kill who?".
"The boy who so blatantly rejected your love." The voice said smoothly.
"Heero? No, he hasn't turned away from me, so I cannot kill him."
"Oh, but he has turned his back on you. Do you see him helping you fight? Is he protecting you? What is he doing? NOTHING! So kill him!" The voice said, its pitch lowering in malice.
"No, I refuse, he is NOT who I am supposed to be fi-" Duo was cut off by another flash of light. And then he blacked out.

Duo didn't know what happened next, except that Heero was pronounced dead after the battle. He couldn't believe it, the boy he loved, the boy that seemingly would never die, even after self-detonation he didn't die. So why now? Around him the trees whispered. The stars began to grow dim. The moon seemed to lose its romantic edge. Duo knew who killed Heero. He killed him. No. ZERO killed him. That's why he hated to hear the number zero.
"Zero, system of a down." Duo said, hanging his head. The ZERO system caused him so much pain, in one day.
