Laying on the moist grass, in the middle of a rainstorm, wasn't the usual behaviour of sane humans, but on this chilly day in November, Sirius didn't care what anyone else thought about him. Lounging around in the castle all day, like everyone else, only made him feel stuffy, and trapped. Not telling anyone where he was going at the time, he grabbed his robes, pulling them tightly around him, and walked out of the warm fire-heated common room in Gryffindor Tower. Even just walking out into the corridor made him feel better, being around everyone always made him feel cramped. He also felt like if he just left the group unannounced, when they finally realised he was gone, it would make him seem a little mysterious, and a little bit of that never hurt anyone.
The real reason he'd left that day was to try and get a glimpse of his presumed enemy, Severus Snape. None of the other Marauder's approved of Sirius' attraction to the greasy Slytherin, and Sirius knew that if he'd told them his plans that day, he never would have been able to escape.
Sirius knew that the best place to find Severus would be somewhere down in the dungeons, so that was where he went first. The further and further down he went, the colder it got, until he could see his breath when he exhaled.
Sirius soon realised that he'd have better luck finding a needle in a haystack than finding Severus, so he retreated back upstairs, and then out the large front doors of Hogwarts. He just wanted to be alone, and have some time to think, without his friends bantering back and forth, or hearing James swoon over Lily Evans, or Remus mope about for his lack of Lily Evens. It sickened him to think that his friends just couldn't accept the thought of he and Severus.
Another problem that Sirius reluctantly kept from his mind, was the fact that he didn't think Severus would ever want him. They were complete opposites, to everyone else. But at the same time, Sirius felt they were perfect for each other. He dreaded the thought of ever slipping up, exposing his real feelings to Severus. That would be the day that Sirius crawled under a rock, forever.
Upon arriving in a clear area of the grounds, Sirius laid down on the earth. Looking up at the sky, he saw the clouds passing overhead, it was obvious a storm was coming. Sirius felt refreshed, watching the grey, angry looking clouds bunch up, the fresh air did him good. Clearing his head, he heard footsteps approaching him, the sound of twigs snapping underfoot.
Looking up at the intruder, Sirius was shocked to see none other than Severus, the very object of his fantasy. Sirius gasped loudly, startling Severus nearly just a bad.
"Oh, um, I'm sorry, Sirius, I didn't know you were there..." Anyone else would have known that Severus was lying, but Sirius didn't see it that way.
"Its fine, I was just getting up to leave anyway." The thoughts running through Sirius' mind were starting to drive him crazy, he wanted to shout his feelings at the teenager standing before him. He wanted to lunge into his arms, and just hold him, and let him know he was there.
Looking rather nervous himself, Severus gave a weak smile. "You know, I was just going on a walk around the lake. You could join me, if you don't have anything else to do. I'd like the company."
Sirius didn't know what to do. Severus looked at him, a little disappointed, and started walking away. Not looking back at Sirius, he muttered, "Nevermind, I wasn't expecting you to come anyway..."
Sirius ran to catch up with Severus, and after a few seconds, Sirius reached over, placing his hand in Severus'. The moody clouds in the sky seemed to clear up, and the downpour suddenly stopped.
