It was a bright and sunny day in Magnolia. Everywhere except the Fairytail guild hall.
"What? You're kicking me off the team?" Lucy asked, despair seeping into her voice.
"Of course, why would we not. You were only ever a replacement for Lizzana anyway. Plus you're super weak." Natsu replied, glancing at Grey and Erza, silently asking them to pitch in.
"I agree with Natsu, Lucy, and this is a good chance for you to get stronger. All of us here know you'll need it." Erza smirks.
"Think about it like this, now you won't have to share the money you get on jobs if you even manage to complete the mission in the first place." Grey laughs.
"Wow." Lucy sighs, "So much for family and sticking together, right? Well, you don't have to worry about kicking me off the team." she says, raising her voice slightly, "Because I quit, in fact, I quit this guild!"
At her statement, all noise seems to cease. Everyone's eyes now rest on Lucy's trembling figure.
"I'm sick and tired of you people pushing me around! You think I'm weak?! Well, this might come as a shocker to you, but for the past eight months, I've done nothing but train. I'm stronger now than I ever was. But you assholes don't even care. I'm with you fucking goddamn people. I now renounce my membership to Fairytail!" Lucy exclaims, shoving her guild mark in the air and displaying it for everyone to see.
As the glow from her fading insignia dims she turns on her heel and storms out of the guild. Leaving the shocked faces of her guildmembers behind, one and for all.

After packing all of her bags, Lucy heads to the train station. Planning on buying a ticket for the Dreamless forest, which is known for its massive amount of magical power and difficult terrain.
Boarding the train, Lucy toys with her keys, smiling softly as she realizes that it's just her and them against the world now. And she wouldn't have it any other way.
