A/N: Written for LJ challenge community, heroes50, for the prompt Love and the LJ challenge Community, firstlinefic, for the Week 7 line. I'm a little surprised people liked this, but I'm glad. I'm a little iffy on this one. Definitely not my best Niki/Peter fic.

I've lost track of how many times we've saved each other's lives. But that didn't stop me from realizing just how much I owed him. Sure he could use my super-strength at anytime he chose, but sometimes that wasn't enough. The bad guys they have to protect people from seem to be getting stronger and stronger themselves, and even Peter couldn't always stand up to them alone. Fighting with him against them used to be the only thing we had in common. But that was beginning to change, for the good.
Now he likes to hang out with Micah which of course makes us interact much more then we used to do. He's been a great father figure or older brother for Micah and it's just another thing that saved me from going insane. Because now I have someone to help out when I don't know what to do – Micah's growing up and he doesn't always need his mother. So when he can't talk to me about it ("its guy stuff mom"), he goes to Peter and I trust Peter to give good advice.
I had always admired Peter. He was brave and strong, but still just like us – scared. I just never realized I could fall in love with him.
