Jana loved theater and all things performing. So when she heard her junior high school was doing a talent show, she knew her act was going to be a Broadway vocal. But what song would she sing? Phantom, Les Mis, Hamilton, Newsies, Anastasia, Mean Girls, or her favorite, Wicked? All these thoughts ran through her head, so to try to clear them, she used a method her kindergarten teacher taught her. Write a letter to herself in her head. That would filter all the exciting ideas. So she began.

There's been some confusion at my junior high this year
I want to do the talent show
But I'm not sure what to perform
All those lovely, pretty, theatrical songs

(10 note musical interlude as Jana walks down the hallway)
Why am I conflicted, I'm feeling so blue
Choosing a favorite isn't something I do
My pulse is rushing
My head is reeling
My face is flushing
I feel a strange feeling!

Yeahhhh (slides up)
Broadway!
Oh my favorite, it's Broadway
I can't make... up my own mind!
Once upon a December is the show
But the song I'm doing I don't know!
It's all because of Broadway!
One more day, oh jeez, oh Broadway!
The voices so stroooooong!
Though I do admit my obsession is strange
But I know that my opinions change
And I will be loving, loving it my whooooole life
Looooooonnnnnnggggg!! *stands on table, singing into pencil*
Teacher: Excuse me, Jana, what are you doing?
Jana (flustered, but happy): Nothing! Just had a great idea about the talent show!
