The boy looked onwards, into the battle. He stepped forward slightly and blinked; his mother was fighting people of the same age as him, he despised the fact that she fought for a bad cause. The boy saw the vine reach out from his mother and wrap around the other children, he knew what was going to happen next, and after all, mother Ivy always practised her tricks on him. She never wanted him; he knew he was seen as a mistake. His rage built up inside and he tackled his mother, telling the others to go. And so his mother looked up at him, disgusted that her child could not take her place, she glared at him, and looked like she was going to attack, but she fell to the floor.
A girl ran towards him, she had green skin and ginger hair, a bit like his mother. She grabbed his wrist and dragged him into what seemed like a spaceship. It was all very new to him, being raised in the rough part of Gotham city made him like this. Full of thieves and crooks, the most about technology he knew was how to hotwire a car. He never did though; it seemed harsh to just steal someone's possessions that they worked hard for.
The boy wanted to look at this ship more; he only glanced at what seemed like a control panel. The girl who had grabbed him seemed to be controlling the ship with her mind, it fascinated him. As he stepped near the girl, the others approached him, and he cowered in the corner, hoping that whatever powers they possessed didn't hurt him. The boy at the front of them all held out his hand and smiled, he lightly said a few words through his grin.
"Don't worry." The boy shook his hand cautiously. "We won't hurt you. Oh, my name's Robin."
The boy scratched his head, wondering whether to trust these people with his name.
"My name's…" He looked down at the metal-like floor, hoping someone would interrupt but no success. "Jake."
