The little darling had come to me filled with plans on how to get Richard and Kate together. Such elaborate plans but that wasn't what we needed.
Oh I would be helping her get them together; there was no doubt about that. I agreed with her completely that they were perfect for each other and what sort of mother would I be if I didn't help my only son get the love of his life.
That would be my story in case Richard or Kate was unhappy with me giving them a "helping hand", it wasn't interfering. Alexis was right on the front as well.
What a sweet and clever girl my granddaughter was. A true little darling, always ready to help others. But far too often was she serious, this would help her stop worrying about school, internships and all that other nonsense.
"Oh darling, we don't need such elaborate schemes." I said airily, waving a hand before me.
No what we had to do was keep things simple; there was no sense in going overboard.
"I say with the next movie night, we just spring on them what we can all at once." I said thoughtfully, nodding to myself.
In my mind's eye I was already picturing how things would play out, it would be so romantic. Alexis and I could make a fabulous meal; I would have to make certain that there was plenty of wine set out.
And we could lay out a range of romantic movies on the coffee table, giving them no choice but to watch them. But there was one small flaw.
If Alexis and I were there nothing would happen. The poor darling, Kate, such a lovely name, was as shy as a first time actress. We would have to leave them to themselves and just hope that everything works out.
But if we did leave, how would we ever know if the plan was a success?
Maybe Alexis would be able to do something about that, put one of those fancy little cameras in the lounge so that we could keep an eye on them.
"Oh Gram, I can't do that." Alexis said sadly. "But Detective Ryan can rig up a camera for us."
What a sweet Irish boy he was, such beautiful blue eyes. Yes he would help; he wanted them together just as much as we did.
All of them did, maybe it was time to recruit more help. I would have to get a hold of the darlings; it was time to get Richard and Kate together.
