Just Do What You Want
Summary: Natsu has always been irritable, and Lucy felt the aftereffects. His words took their toll, and they were the last she ever heard from him. (Non-magic world.)
Pairing: Sibling pairing(s): Yukino & Sting, Lucy & Natsu
"Natsu-nii! Natsu-nii! Wake up! It's 3:20 pm!" a blonde girl bounced childishly on the balls of her feet, knocking on his door.
"Leave me alone. Just do what you want!"
"Okay!" the blonde girl skipped out the doors of the siblings' apartment. She ran to the park, where a girl with silver-blue-white hair and brown eyes stood. "Hello, Yukino! Time to go shopping!" They were heading home when a car on the street swerved, heading for Yukino. Lucy flung herself in front of Yukino, pushing Yukino aside, and it ran over Lucy, going at high speeds. Lucy had tracks on her clothes, which were soaked with blood. Yukino tenderly brought her to the sidewalk, desperately trying to call someone, but in her gut she knew it was too late.
"Y-Yukino," she croaked, and Yukino leaned in to listen, ignoring the sympathetic looks of the passerby. "It isn't your fault. J-just," she gasped for breath, "remember that. S-say-y g-g-ood-bye to my fr-friend-ds and f-family…" she whispered, and then her eyes rolled back into her head and she became limp, blood staining the sidewalk around her. Yukino brought her to her chest, tears wracking her body as she held the lax form of her best friend. She slowly hiccuped, not being able to cry anymore.
Yukino flipped open her phone, dialing Sting's number.
"Yes, Yuki-nee?" he asked cautiously, knowing about her excursion with Lucy. He knew she would call unless it was important when she was only doing that. "What's wrong."
"C-call N-natsu. I-It's Lucy. S-she's d-d-dead." She heard Sting take a sharp intake of breath. "Y-You're his f-f-friend, right? Do i-it, Sting-nee. P-pleas-se."
"Okay," Sting said, sounding determined and worried at the same time. A few minutes later, she could hear Natsu over the phone, yelling.
"WHAT HAPPENED? HOW? I WILL KILL THAT GUY!" Then she heard him start to cry, and she knew Sting was holding his in, trying to stay strong for his friend. "Oh, god," Natsu realized, "the last thing I told her was, 'Leave me alone. Just do what you want!' Oh, no."
A few weeks later, Natsu knelt at Lucy's grave, bouquets left and right after almost everyone who knew the cheery blonde Student President gave her flowers. He put his down, a few white lilies, and rosemary tucked among many tulips. He put the bouquet down, and slammed his fists on the grave, not caring about the pain. "That wasn't what you wanted, right…? Forgive me, Lucy-nee!"
A figure watched the pink-haired male, smiling softly at him. "I already have, Natsu-nii."
The feels, the feels! I had this idea, and decided to use it. I hope you check out my other stories, and comment on this!
