I don't know. I am on a random idea streak. Enjoy
Dipper hated Mabel sometimes. Why had she signed him up to sing when she knew how bad his stage fright was? Oh, wait, this was probably some wild, stupid plan to try and get him over it. Dipper groaned, the mic he had been forced to hold getting sweaty in his hands. He could have dealt with the nerves, he had dealt with them many times before from being forced into school plays by his mother, but Bill standing next to him with a look that suggested he was looking forward to watching Dipper fail on stage made it worse. The demon had become a semi-friend to the twins, being an all-around jerk but helping them out at the end of the day if there were in any actual danger. His human body looked surprisingly normal for being around their age, a t-shirt with a fake bow-tie on it and jeans, a black cap on his head.
"Kid!" Dipper jumped at Bill's shout and heard the music of the song Mabel had chosen for him starting. "Go!" Bill shoved Dipper out onto the stage and the boy stumbled out onto it, clutching the mic with shaking hands as he did. There weren't a ton of people, it wasn't a really a concert it was an annual karaoke thing the town had near the end of the summer every year just for the hell of it. And Mabel had signed him up to sing all by himself, she could have at least come up with him or had someone else sing beside him, it would have helped, but she hadn't and now he had to suffer. He hated her so much.
Dipper mentally cursed as he sung, his voice way to quiet and squeaky from his fear. He could hear people whispering, mocking him, and he saw Wendy and the others in the crowd, some frowning in sympathy and others scowling in distaste. He felt his throat lock up in fear, it hadn't helped that Mabel had picked a loud song with a lot of guitar in it, and by Simple Plan no less. Honestly, it was a nightmare. There was a high pitched screech from the mic and Dipper winced along with everyone else, mentally cursing again. He jumped as the guitar got louder, as if someone was playing over it and someone joined in the singing. Wait a second...
Dipper turned his head in surprise, seeing Bill come onto the stage with a guitar strapped over his shoulder as he played to the tune of the song and sung into a ear-mic. He winked at Dipper as he came up beside him and smiled encouragingly. Dipper smiled faintly and joined him after clearing the nervous lump in his throat. Dipper pried his eyes away from the crowd, their staring eyes weren't helping his nerves, and looked over at Bill, who was grinning like an idiot and having fun shredding his guitar. Dipper's smile turned to a grin and he let himself sing louder, even swaying a little to the beat. He could hear the crowd cheering as they sang together, Bill letting Dipper sing some parts alone and Dipper returning the favor as the song went on.
When the song finally ended, the experience as a whole not being nearly as bad as Dipper had expected it to be, the crowd applauded and Bill grinned widely, laughing in glee and Dipper allowed himself to join in. They both waved to the crowd before walking off stage and Dipper handed the mic to the person next in line, apologizing when he saw them wipe the sweat off. Dipper turned and saw Bill thanking one of the staff for letting him borrow the guitar as he handed the ear-mic over to them. Dipper grinned and ran over, hugging the demon tightly around the waste of his human form.
"Thanks, you didn't have to," Dipper said with a smile. Bill chuckled and patted Dipper's head lightly.
"Yeah yeah, whatever, Pine Tree. It was fun," he said as Dipper let go, still smiling. The demon wasn't nearly as bad as Dipper had originally thought.
