A Child in the Dark

This isn't so much of a story as it is a simple poem I came up with when I was bored. The story of it is that a small child grew up after the apocalypse, never knowing the outside world. He had been raised by his family, but when he was old enough to know who they were, he began to suffer from amnesia. He leaves his bunker/home, and looks around. After wards, he returns home.

A Child in the Dark

I remember when they used to speak. Their voices kept me company. Why did they go silent?

I remember my first sight of the real word. I didn't see anyone near the barren trees. How am I so alone?

I remember seeing the worn buildings. Plants grew from the concrete. When did all of this start?

I remember when I went back home. It's the same as everywhere else. Who put me here?

I remember when I went to sleep, and the noise started again. They sound like rocks against metal. Where did my family go?

It's pretty short, but I just wanted to post it for fun. :)
