His hand touched the cold mirror softly, as if he was trying to push away the glass of the mirror to join his reflection and the woman in his arms in this reflection. He couldn't take this anymore. He couldn't take it that this mirror would leave tomorrow. It was the only Lily in his life. After it would disappear, the love of his life would only exist in his memory.

He saw his reflection smile at the red haired beauty and kiss her hair softly. A tear welled up into his eye as he touched the cold glass again and his mirror view copied him, their hands touching but he could only feel bare glass. His hand moved over to Lily and she smiled sadly, as if she wished she could do something. Her hand moved towards his hand touching the glass, as if she wanted to touch it. He wished within the deepest of his soul he could feel her soft skin.

He would give everything to swap with his reflection. He would do anything to just be able to make the glass disappear so he could step into the frame and join the person who owned his heart and soul. He would die, he would tell everyone about everything, he didn't mind, as long as he could be with her, see her once again, hold her hand just one more time. Anything. Nothing was too much. He needed it. But it was impossible.

He jumped slightly as he heard a sound behind him and sighed as he turned around to see Dumbledore standing behind him. His face was fierce, not showing any thoughts.

"He's almost here, Severus. You know that, you know he comes here, You were the one to tell me he came here," Dumbledore's low voice said. Severus turned around to look at the mirror again.

"I know," He said. Dumbledore walked closer.

"It's unlike you to not report him," He said in a much softer voice. The old man was still hoping for him to care for the reckless, arrogant child.

"I don't want him to know I come here. Plus, if I give him detention, people will know about this place." He stared at the mirror view again, Lily's smile was not as big as before. She was holding the hand of his reflection in the enchanted mirror.

"I can't give her son detention while she's watching," he whispered then, his voice broken as he turned his back to the dream in the mirror. After all, he still loved the porcelain skinned woman more than he loathed Potters son so he would never hurt her, even if she was just a mere reflection of the girl he had loved.

Dumbledore shot him a knowing look before turning around, giving him a last minute of free time before the little culprit would destroy and take his last few precious hours with the mirror before it was removed.

Severus let his eyes go over the inscription of the mirror. Erisedstraehruoytubecafruoytonwohsi.'I show not your face but your heart's desire'. Nothing was more true. His heart had never known any other true desire but the love from the one woman who had always owned his heart, who would always own his heart until his death.
