Know My Vengeance
By Shi no Tenshi
The lines of graves were endless. They seemed to stretch out for miles in every direction. How many of them, one tends to wonder, actually contain bodies? How many of them are simply empty boxes with stones on top? How many men and women were lost in space, destroyed by masses of mobile suits?
Hallie's uniform was still intact, the bloody scarlet contrasting sharply with her ashen face. Rain pounded mercilessly upon her small frame as she bowed her head before the three polished marble headstones. Etched on the stones were the words:
Alexander Yakato: AC177~AC195
Carmen Yakato: AC148~AC195
Sarah Yakato: AC146~AC195
Carved in granite and in Hallie's heart alike.
She hated the pilot of Wing Zero. Heero Yuy. The name rang in her ears with disgust. He was responsible for the death of her mother. He was responsible for the death of her father. He was responsible for the death her sister. And she was damn sure he was somehow responsible for the disappearance of her baby brother fourteen years ago. Oh yes, she hated him with blazing fury of a million suns. In vengeance, she joined Mariemeia's coup d'état.
Mariemeia Khushrenada had been an idol of power. An idol of revenge. She could have killed him. She would have killed him. Killed that goddamn pilot and ruled the world. And what a glorious world it would have been. Supremacy. Ultimate control. Dictatorship. And with Hallie as a member of Dictator Mariemeia's elite forces, she would have power. Power to track down the rest of those Gundam pilots and tortured them until they felt what it was like to suffer. Torture them until they begged for death.
A small smile tugged at her lips at the prospect. The way things would have been. The way things should have been. She could almost hear her sister's laughter; see her father's grin of approval. She had been brought up with a sense of pride. A pride that had shattered with Mariemeia's fortress.
There would be plenty of time to regain that pride. She survived for a reason. Queen Relena, would have her hands full. And besides, where Queen Relena was found, the pilot of Wing Zero must be found as well. And all knew what would happen when Hallie Yakato met Heero Yuy.
An almost evil laugh escaped her lips and resonated in the cold, rainy air. Hallie pushed her soaking unruly brown bangs out of the way of her cobalt blue eyes and made her way out of the cemetery.
