Zack scowled as he stomped down the hall, Sephiroth's messages clutched in his fist. He hadn't seen the General in months. Not since…

Heat. Mouths touching, breath mingling. Hot, hard. Muscles sliding. Tension. Whispered words, strong fingers. Legs around his back. Guiding, demanding.

Zack swallowed hard, his face hot and flushed. Maybe that night had been a mistake. It certainly seemed so. Sephiroth had run, hadn't he? He hadn't even said goodbye, hadn't told Zack where he was going. The President had been the one to inform him Sephiroth was gone, had even made Zack Acting General while Seph was on vacation. Vacation? Since when did Sephiroth take vacation? Since he decided he wanted to get away from me, that's when.

Pissed at Sephiroth for leaving and at himself for pushing things too far too fast, Zack shoved his way into Sephiroth's office, slamming the door behind him and plopping down into the General's worn leather chair. He started sorting through the messages, reading them and separating them into the appropriate files. Application to the Soldier program…report on mako levels…medical orders…

Zack's eyes widened as he scanned one short document. He leaned back in his chair, stunned for a moment. Only one thought ran through his mind. Well, at least I know where to find Sephiroth.

Sephiroth sighed and lay back on the couch, trying to ignore the ache in his back. It had been a long day, and it was bound to get longer before it was finally over. He'd been out here for months, just waiting for the shit to truly hit the fan. What had he been thinking, sleeping with Zack? Zackary Fair was his Second-in-Command, his subordinate and his most trusted advisor. It had been a stupid move, mixing work and pleasure.

At the time, though, it hadn't felt stupid. It had felt…incredible. Unraveling. It had felt like something had clicked inside him, like he'd finally snapped into focus.

But now Zack was gone, and Sephiroth would have to face him sooner or later, would have to pay the price for what he'd taken. He knew Zack had been a virgin. It had been obvious from the boy's behavior, though Zack had tried to hide it. No, Sephiroth had known, and yet he'd touched the boy anyway.

Stupid.

Sephiroth shook his head and sighed, closing his eyes. There wasn't anything he could do now except try and repair the damage.

The door opened.

Sephiroth growled. He'd locked the door, which could only mean… He peeked out from beneath lowered silver lashes. Zack. Zackary Fair was standing over him, staring down at him uncertainly, anxiety rising off him in waves. Taking a deep breath, Sephiroth slowly sat up. He stared at Zack for a moment, not sure what he should do. Apologize? He cleared his throat. "Zackary, I…"

But Zack shook his head, biting his bottom lip so hard Sephiroth was surprised it wasn't bleeding. "I just came to see if you were all right. I missed you. You…" He took a step closer, tentatively holding out his hand. "You still want me…right?"

Slowly, Sephiroth nodded, taking the boy's hand and pulling him closer, guiding him down for a gentle kiss. Then Zack dropped to his knees, his hands pressed against Sephiroth's stomach, and suddenly Sephiroth was the one leaning over him. But he didn't break the kiss.

It was Zack who finally pulled back, his purple eyes wide and dilated. Sephiroth stared warily down at him. "You're not angry with me?"

"How could I be?" Zack shook his head, his grip tightening across Sephiroth's middle. A slow grin spread over his face. "I'm going to be a daddy!"
