This came about randomly. I found a picture based off Peter Pan on DeviantArt and it sparked this one shot. I don't normally write fanfictions, so please excuse it if this is horrible. I've only just gotten back into writing and this has not been beta'd.

She walks up the stairs carrying her book loosely in her right hand, worn out from another night of trying to act happy when truthfully, she is screaming, wishing that there were some way to go back to the way it was before. Back when she was care free, back when the tiniest things made her feel ecstatic and back when she was able to do what she wanted. She sighs as trudges up to her room. If she can make it her room, then she will be okay. No one notices when she leaves, and no one notices when she cries alone at night, letting the tears fall freely as she mourns what she gave up.

It is a shadow that makes her turn her head, a tiny shadow that dances along the wall in the darkest hours of the night. Strangely enough, the star is what first grabs her attention. The star that holds everything dear to her, everything that she can only wish to see again. The bright light shines down on the city, casting an eerie glow on the city below. She feels a tightening in her chest as she gazes longingly at the star and she knows that it is her own fault that she feels this way. If she had chosen to stay, she would be living a wonderful life with the people she had grown to love as opposed to her life now of wearing a constant mask.

Scanning her eyes across the dark sky she catches sight of what she has dreamed about so many times: the ship. The book falls to the ground as she raises her hands up to the glass of the window, trying to touch what she left willingly. Her chest constricts again and hot tears flood her eyes as she watches it slowly fly across the sky. Oh how she wishes that she could leave this place and never come back. In her few years alone she has come to realize that nothing will ever compare to what she experienced before. As tears fall down her face in streams, she barely makes out where the ship is headed and a pain hits her like never before, because unlike the last time she watched it sail off, this time she wants to leave with it. She wants to reach out and apologize and follow her dreams, but the glass is stopping her. The tips of her fingers glide smoothly along the glass as she tries to run them over the ship's image, but her pain does not quell. Her mouth opens, but nothing comes out.

For the first time, she realizes that she will forever be alone. Her dreams are nothing but wishes that can never come true.

Heart broken, she turns away, bracing herself against the window pane. Her bare shoulders touch the cool glass, but she does not feel it. All she can feel is the emptiness inside that she now realizes is all she has. An emptiness brought on by herself. She sighs and hangs her head as a resigned feeling creeps over her. Now she must live with the consequences of that one mistake.

One lone tear trickles down her face as a soft voice whispers in the night, "Wendy".

Once again, sorry if this was horrible. Drop a note, let me know if I can stop being terrified of writing fanfics.
