Racing through the trees, the team from Konoha came out into a clearing to find the two Uchiha brothers casually walking side by side. Shocked at the sight, the team landed to gather the information they were obviously lacking.
Sasuke gave a brief overview of Itachi's intentions, the role Konoha had regarding the clan, and how Itachi had revealed the whole truth after Orochimaru was destroyed. The others listened intently, trying to interpret Itachi's expressions while the story was told. Despite the revelations and Sasuke's changed attitude towards his brother, there was still an element of distrust since there was no absolute evidence and also from Itachi's past attacks on Konoha.
An uncomfortable silence settled on the group. Sakura was only thinking of one thing – that she was glad to have Sasuke back – but she was concerned that Sasuke still looked distant and withdrawn. Naruto seemed to be in a state of shock. Her hands started to tremble and tears started to form as she realised she didn't know what she could do to help. Looking to the ground, she gave a barely audible sniffle. She didn't want to lose Sasuke again.
Sai stepped forward with a cool gaze, coming within arms reach of Sasuke. Sasuke didn't flinch, surprised but meeting the implied challenge, and displeased at the intrusion into his personal space.
Suddenly Sai reached out and grabbed Sasuke behind the head, pulling him forwards into a kiss. All the onlookers gaped in surprise.
Slapping Sai away, Sasuke glared at him. "What do you think you're doing?" he replied, highly annoyed and irritated.
Emotionally unaffected, Sai responded "Cheering Sakura-san up." That answer didn't appease Sasuke, who continued to stare at Sai as if he was a complete idiot.
Naruto stepped towards them with a smile that was forced wider than usual, as when one is chiding a kid for misbehaviour. "Ne, Sai… just because Sakura-chan liked it when Konohamaru made his clones transform into you and Sasuke kissing each other, doesn't mean you should do that in real life."
All eyes turned to Sakura, who turned a deep shade of red, especially embarrassed by Sasuke's scrutinising gaze.
"When Konohamaru did that, it was more a joke, ne?" Naruto continued. Sai looked back thoughtfully.
Despite the unlikelihood, Sasuke saw innocence in Sai's eyes. He muttered "Che, you're almost as bad as Naruto."
Naruto spluttered. "WHAAAT? That time I kissed you was an accident! I was pushed!"
Everyone else stood there in shock, even Sai.
"That's right, you are clumsy, dobe," replied Sasuke with a smirk.
Loud chuckles were being heard from the group now.
"Saaaaaaaaaasukeeeeeeeee!!" shouted Naruto, glaring at him. Sasuke began to chuckle lightly himself. It was good to be back.
