Disclaimer: I do not own the Manga/Anime Naruto or any of its characters, nor do I own the song 'Invisible' by Clay Aiken.
Authors Note: This is my first song-fic (And my second update in less than a week!), so please, long story short: Review!!
It was not often Kiba felt ignored. And when he did, his rather loud personality made sure people were aware of him.
But sometimes, it was not as simple. Sometimes people would look at him, yet not really see him. Or see him as something he did not want to be. Especially Hinata, in fact only Hinata. She ignored him in the most hurtful way, she ignored what he wanted to be to her.
All she would see, all she would notice, and all she could think about was Uzumaki -fucking- Naruto. All she did, she did for him it seemed. Leaving him alone in the shadows, wondering where he'd gone wrong. Why Uzumaki was so much freaking better than him. Sometimes, he was certain she didn't see him properly. Just blonde hair, blue eyes and a grinning mouth.
'If I was invisible, then I would just watch you in your room.'
And he would. Just watch her sleep, her face completely still with that slight smile on her face, and he would imagine it would be for him. And just for him.
But he wasn't invisible. Hinata saw him. As a team-mate, friend, or perhaps even a big brother. But not as something more.
'If I was invincible, I would make you mine tonight.'
Go straight up to her and kiss her, in front of everyone that wanted to see how much she meant to him. He'd catch her if she were to fall. (Which she probably would if he kissed her.) But he would fight anything just to protect her, keep her safe.
But Inuzuka Kiba wasn't invincible, not even close. He was just… Kiba. Flesh and blood, nothing more. He could hardly protect himself, and even though he'd like to think he was, Kiba was not nearly invincible.
But he felt stronger around her, as if he really were invincible.
'If hearts were unbreakable, then I would just tell you where I stand.'
And God, yes he would. He'd tell her straight out how much he cared for her, liked her, wanted to hold her hand, wanted to hug her, wanted to kiss her.
He'd tell her how much he loved her, he'd shout it from the goddamned rooftops if she wanted him to.
If only… his heart wouldn't break if she rejected him. Because it would. It felt as though it broke every time she looked at Naruto, and smiled that small smile where her lips barely turn up. Heaven knows how it would feel if she… preferred Naruto over him.
No, no, no. He would die for certain.
His heart would break into tiny fragments he couldn't stick together. Into a puzzle he couldn't finish because pieces were missing.
And that piece would be her. And the hope that maybe, one day, she'll look at him, and see him, really see him.
'If I was invisible…' Kiba thought, only to smile sadly.
'…I already am…'
