Author's Notes: This is my very first True Blood story so I'll do my best in resembling the Eric in this story just like the one we all know in the show. Completely AU, and is also a one-shot story. Enjoy!

I walk through the endless valley, of the shadows of death that flicker before me; my eyes peering at the pitiful humans in an expression of mere revulsion. They all disgust me with their simplicity, their shallow desires.

But the gifts of food, security were things that I did not possess, and yet, I feel this emotion they call jealously pouring in my veins, fueling my envy. A growl emanated deep within my bare chest; before my sight I probed at the intoxicating scent of human blood coursing through the night that I could not ignore at best.

Hunger fills me; my trademark fangs beginning to lengthen into needle points, and a shiver passed though my, strong, lithe, yet lifeless body. I peered a cautious, curious look towards the well-endowed females trotting through the empty alley, performing their services to passersby willing to gamble their marriages, as I developed a small smile at the delicious, yet revolting sight.

My pang of hunger began to increase a thousand fold. Such easy pickings, never aware of the true danger that lurked in the night. The ones that they did not comprehend, nor willing to understand.

What a pity. Such a shame that no one will long for them. Not after tonight, I assured. I slowly approached her, arrogance now enveloping me.

I vaguely sensed her longing, her desire for me, though I had also witnessed a flicker of fear etched in the deepest of her hazel eyes. I had noticed the other women paying attention, but I did not bother. They did not seem worthy of my attention. Fools.

I placed a casual, yet sensuous smile on my lips, as I approached Hazel Eyes with a ferocity of a stalking cat. She seemed to revel in it. It had only boosted my ego.

"Howdy, good-looking. And what is ya'll's name? If I may ask?" She caressed her breast in an attempt to seduce me, teasing her exposed nipple before turning her attention to the other.

Desire radiated from her, that I could tell. But I did not give her what she was yearning for. I simply played my part, though I attempted to suppress the bulge that was increasing in my silk trousers.

"It is Eric. But unfortunately, you will not live long enough to remember, my dear," I released a suppressed sound of warning as I immediately buried my fangs onto her bare throat, drinking in the warm, intoxicating elixir of her blood, until the feeling of ecstasy overwhelmed me.

So that is what it is like to drink the blood of humans. Without a single care, I dropped her lifeless corpse onto the wet pavement, then disappeared into the night, immensely sastified.

I believe that I will enjoy living in the New World. And with that, I smile towards the night.
