It was quickly approaching Christmas morning and the Burrow was bustling with activity. "Hello dears," Molly exclaimed as Hermione and Luna flooed into the midst of the mayhem. "I believe the boys are outside playing quidditch and Ginny is upstairs somewhere. Dinner in an hour!" The girls quickly mumbled a response and went to find Ginny.
"Hermione, Luna! Boy am I ever glad to see you. The boys were about to drive me bonkers bugging me about when you were going to get here. Ron will be beside himself with joy." Luna just smiled at her friend's remark.
"Speaking of Ronald, would you like to see what I got him for Christmas?" Hermione looked at Ginny with misgiving before nodding yes. Luna's smile widened as she pulled the gift from deep in her bag.
"Err… what is it exactly?" Hermione's eyes searched what appeared to be a snakeskin dyed to the color of cherries, trying to make sense of it.
"It's a charm to keep the wholingles away while he plays quidditch. They distract him you know." Having said that, she disappeared downstairs leaving Hermione and Ginny baffled behind her.
Almost everyone had finished opening his or her presents. The twins were covered in tinsel, having just finished a massive battle. Luna and Ron were cuddling as Arthur handed Ron a very peculiarly wrapped gift. "Oh that one is mine Ronald," Luna whispered, giving him a quick kiss. He tore open the paper with a huge grin that fell when he saw the contents.
"Ah, thanks… I think." Ron blushed as he said the words not wanting to hurt his girlfriend's feelings.
"It will keep the wholingles away," was her only reply to his remark. Ron's nose wrinkled in disgust as he sat the gift aside. Hermione watched her two friends leave the room then snorted as she elbowed Harry and pointed to the charm Ron had left hidden under the edge of the couch. They both burst into laughter and went to find the leftovers from dinner.
