Chapter 1- Friends or Foes?

Elsa's POV

It has been a whole year since I have moved back to Dragon's Edge, and I have never been happier. I've had a better life on Dragon's Edge than I ever have when we were sailing the seas. And if you're asking, yes. I do miss Cody very much. I really wished that he had come with us, but he didn't. It was his choice to make, not mine. So anyway, I woke up very, very early, as per usual with FireHeart trying to rock me off of my bed so I wouldn't be late.

"Okay, okay… I'm getting up!" I muttered as I rolled out of bed and fluffed out my hair. I never liked getting up early in the morning, but Hiccup said that it would be better to train early than very late at night, so he kinda had a good point there.

I had trudged downstairs and walked outside to see that the sun was barely peeking over the horizon.

"If the sun isn't up, why am I?" I complained as I walked towards the Hangar platform, where Hiccup and Astrid waited.

"Do you mind telling me why we have to be up so early?" I asked as Hiccup smiled a bit and gave me a small shake on my shoulder.

Hiccup's POV

"Oh come on, you know why!" I joked as she smiled and pushed my hand away.

"Fine I surrender. So what are we doing today?" Elsa asked me as she hopped onto the back of FireHeart, Astrid and I doing the same.

Elsa's POV

I sighed at the two words he spoke. I never liked these kinds of training.

"Trust exercises!" Hiccup announced as Toothless smiled a little bit, but not as much as he usually does.

"Okay Hiccup, I'm going to say this in the nicest way possible… I hate you." I said as we approached the edge of the platform.

"No you don't, you hate the lesson." Hiccup joked.

"Yeah, but you assigned the lesson so I blame you." I replied as we started to fly high into the air. I was used to these exercises but face it. You will never get used to having to fall off of the back of your dragon and hope that they will rescue you. Yet somehow, Hiccup manages to be used to that.

As we rode high into the clouds, Hiccup suddenly gave us the signal and we all unharnessed ourselves and fell backwards off of our dragons. I waited until we reached our mark right at the clouds and I called for I was freefalling, I saw something moving on the shores of Dragon's Edge. I squinted as I tried to make it out. I gasped in shock because it wasn't something, it was someone! Right as I was going to call Hiccup, I felt a smack on my chest. I looked to see that FireHeart had caught me and we were gliding in mid air. I quickly snapped out of it and I called to Hiccup.

Hiccup's POV

I heard Elsa call me and turned my head.

"What's up?" I asked. I then saw her point down to the shadowed figure moving around the beach, with a dragon! I signalled everyone down to the beach and ended up landed right behind them. There seemed to be two vikings. Not just one. Each with their own dragon.

Astrid's POV

"Hey!" I called out as the two turned their heads. They seemed to be holding something with them. I looked closely until I saw roped hands. I looked at Hiccup and pointed out the person that was behind them. A hostage.
