"You can't jump off a cliff when you have already fallen off a bigger one."
-Kami Garcia, Beautiful Creatures
It all started when the rope that was hanging my parents broke. They both were trapeze artists. Until that show. I may had been a little kid, but I will never forget the scared looks on their faces. They both loved their lives and they were just going to lost them. Death had claimed them that night and I had witnessed it taking my parents away, to whatever place we go when we die.
After that, a man named Bruce Wayne (a.k.a. Batman) adopted me and raised me as his son and as a heroe. I had passed through a lot of training, so I decided to leave him but I promised to stay in touch.
I found this city named Jump City. It was a garbage dump fulled of criminals. I was expecting to change that. What I never expected, is that I would become the leader of a superheroe team named the Teen Titans.
I regret a lot of things in my life. Like working for Slade, becoming Red X, betraying my friends, among others. But I can't regret being part of this team. I left Batman because I thought that working alone wouldn't make me look weak. Now I'm able to understand that working with others won't make me look weak, it makes me look strong. My teammates are my strength. They give it to me in very different ways.
Cyborg is extremely smart, his human heart is as strong as his metal hand (and trust me, you won't like to get punch by it). Beast boy makes us smile in hard times, after all, he doesn't want us to suffer. Raven is full of hope and care, but she always hides it with her selflessness. And Starfire…
Sigh.
Starfire's warm heart melt me. She can easily get away my inner demons. I hope you can now see how those four people make me how I'm today.
This is the truth: I can't complain with my life. Many people get worry because of my obsession with villains, but I don't want to watch them die as my parents did. The only worst thing than watching my friends die is to stand there, watching them, knowing there is nothing I can do to save them.
The mask that covers my eyes will always stay with me. Why?
Because the person who I was before becoming a Titan needs to stay hidden to keep my loved ones safe.
Richard "Dick" Grayson was and will always be under this mask. I don't want him to return. I'm Robin. An apprentice, a friend, a villain, and a Titan.
Robin out.
