It's a noisy evening for her. Guests were around her bar, men drinking and doing stuff. He isn't here, he always isn't. She misses him terribly. I wonder how he is?
He's thinking of her. Wondering how she is. Guilty for leaving her every night alone in the bar, well almost alone.
"Tifa.." a voice of a little girl behind her said. "Marlene, why are you still awake?" she asked. "I can't sleep. Is Cloud going home already?", the little girl was quite in tears already. She didn't know what to answer. Does she need to lie? "Marlene, I don't know if he is. Don't worry he'll come home tommorow or the next morning" she said.
He's on his way home, he wants to see her now. He doesn't want to admit it, but he does miss her.
The people inside the bar already left, she is now closing 7th Heaven, planning to go to sleep. When she reached upstairs and lay down the bed, she closed her eyes and tried to sleep. She can't. She was thinking of him. It's always been like this. Sleepless Nights.
He's already home, but the bar is already closed. She must be asleep now. He entered through a door known only by few and climb upstairs to his room, but after changing his clothes he just realized that his feet was leading him towards Tifa's room. He opened the door, she looks asleep. He went closer to Tifa's bed and sat at its end, caressing the strands of her hair.
She was wide awake, and she knows that Cloud is beside her, she just closed her eyes pretending to be asleep.
He kissed the tip of her hair strands. She was still beautiful even in her sleep. He looked intently at her face. He noticed something, she was awake.
She tried to close her eyes more, she's like a candle burning down due to embarrassment.
"Teef.." he said in a hush voice, "I know you're awake". After hearing that she sat up. "Cloud .. You're back" she said.
Silence.
"Teef.." he said to break the silence. "I missed you, Cloud. Marlene missed you. Denzel also." she said, looking down while gripping her bed's covers. He let out a sigh. "I missed you guys too. Hey are you crying?" he said then held her chin up only to see Tifa's tearful face. He pulled her closer to himself, he hugged her. "Cloud.." she hushed. "Sssh .. it's fine now. I'm home now okay? And I need to tell you something" he said.
"Cloud?" she asked confusingly. "Teef, remember our childhood? Remember my promise to you? That I will always protect you? The reason I joined SOLDIER?" he asked.
"Of course I remember, you promised me that no matter what happens you'll protect me. That you'll always be by my side." she answered. Cloud looked down. "I failed to do that, and I'm sorry..." he said. She looked at his beautiful blue eyes intently. "It's fine Cloud" she said. "I understand".
"Teef, I-I love you" he confessed. She was surprised, don't know what to say. "I .. Cloud I .."
"You don't need to respond Tifa" he said then stood up, "I'm gonna be leaving you now, sleep tight Tifa"
"Cloud wait.." she said, which made Cloud freeze where he's standing.
"The feeling is mutual" she said and Cloud looked at her and hugged her like no tomorrow.
