"Can you hear me?" Sam glanced at Dean, laying on the hospital bed, breathing courtesy of the ET tube.
"No." Sam backed away from the bed, bumping blindly into the wall. Whirling around, he spotted the
Mystical Talking Board on the broad window ledge. He grasped the folded-over board and planchette in his
hands and strode to the room's center.
"Long as I'm around, nothing bad's gonna happen to you," he affirmed.
Sam knelt, setting up the board and indicator. Fingertips exerting slight pressure on the edges of the
planchette, Sam spoke. "Dean, are you here?"
The planchette remained motionless.
