Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter. That belongs to J.K. Rowling. Don't sue. I do own this plotline though. I made it all by myself (freaky childish voice) Don't steal.

Pairings: Harry/Luna
Summary: One-shot. Warning: OOC Luna looks at Harry from far away and wonders why she can't love him. Then she sees the other one, and knows why.
Why Can't You Love Me?
Tiredly, Luna opened her eyes.
It was difficult to do so, especially after remembering all the events of the night before. The battle with the Death Eaters, Snape and Malfoy being traitors, Dumbledore dying, Harry…
Harry.
His name lingered in Luna's mind as she got up from her four-poster bed and stretched, yawning. She still thought about him as she showered, brushed her teeth, and dressed up. He still occupied her mind while she brushed her long blonde hair and put on her earrings, which, today, were shaped like little turnips.
Luna left the Ravenclaw dormitory and walked, alone, down the hallways.
She thought about him again.
To be honest, Luna had absolutely no idea why she had fallen in love with Harry James Potter. The initial attraction had started a year ago, back when she was a fourth year and he a fifth. Luna did not normally notice any sort of physical appeal on boys, so it surprised her somewhat when she actually acknowledged Harry's good looks.
Typically, Luna had merely attributed that to the fact that she had hit puberty, and perhaps the hormones that affected her body's growth were affecting her thinking as well. All part of growing up, fourteen-year-old Luna had thought, shrugging her shoulders and forgetting all about it.
Oh how very wrong I was, the now-fifteen-year-old thought, somewhat sadly.
Now, one might ask, why can't Luna love Harry? The girl often wondered the same thing herself. After all, there was only a year of age difference between them. Luna was, if not conventionally pretty, very attractive. As was Harry.
But, as she exited the castle, she saw why.
Seated in the congregation that had gathered for Dumbledore's funeral was Harry…
…with Ginny sitting right next to him.
That was why.
Oh, how Luna wanted to hate Ginny. She had every reason to. But she couldn't. For all the pain the redheaded girl had caused Luna, she was still Luna's friend.
And that was why Luna couldn't love Harry.
Sighing sadly, she turned away from the heartbreaking sight and walked to her seat.
A/N: Really short and very pointless. I just needed to get that out of my system. It's been bouncing around my head for days without letting up. Oh well. Please review!
