First, it was Kaoru who confessed, though he had major misgivings. His feelings for the short scholarship student had formed despite his close bond for his brother. He felt guilty for saying something, knowing his brother felt the same, but couldn't stop himself.

He was turned down by the sincerely regretful girl.

.

Second was Mori. Ever since that day in the water park, his awareness of her as a girl wouldn't leave his mind. He had to know if he had a chance.

He also was turned down ever so gently.

.

Third came Hikaru. He didn't know his brother had already confessed. He simply had to make his feelings known.

He too was denied.

.

Fourth was Tamaki. He finally admitted his feelings to himself after that long ago dance, but he needed to work up the courage to admit it.

He also was denied, though maybe not quite as tactfully given his flamboyant declaration.

.

Fifth was Kyouya. He never said anything before about his affections knowing his best friend's feelings, but was given hope when the other man had been let down.

He too was denied. However, she felt the same in return. Her reasons for her refusal were ones he couldn't refute. And so they agreed to stay apart.

.

One last person came to speak with her. Since he already had a girlfriend he was quite close to, Honey never had any feelings to confess. However, day after day, he saw the girl he loved like a sister slowly become more despondent. He finally decided to confront her.

At the obvious concern, she couldn't evade. With tears forming that she couldn't keep back, she told him. There was someone she loved, and who loved her in return. Their emotions for each other ran deep and strong, but they couldn't be together. It would hurt all their friends far too much. Neither ever wanted to do that to them. So they loved from afar, and felt the pangs as other people made advances toward their unobtainable loved one.

Unfortunately, Tamaki overheard the inquiry, and the answer. He made a huge show over her heartache. He said no matter how much he loved her, he would never ask her to be separated from the one she loved so deeply. His theatrics drew the attention of the others, who, when they found out what was going on, agreed with blonde princely character.

Finally, Mori asked the one question the others were too afraid to ask, or one who already knew the answer. Who did she love? For it was love; they could all see it in her eyes. She trembled at the question, afraid to answer. But her eyes betrayed her, for they couldn't leave the tortured eyes of her other half. Slowly, the others followed her eyes. Straight to Kyouya, who gazed back to Haruhi with equal heartache and love.

At seeing the pure emotion in both of them, the others pushed the couple together, saying they would never stand in the way of love. As they departed to give the new couple privacy, the friends declared they would always be such.

The last thing they saw as the door closed was a kiss of purest love shared between their beloved friends.

AN: To my fans, yes, I'm still working on my other pieces, but this little thing popped up into my head and I had to share.

I have no idea if this has been done before, since I didn't want to take the time to sift through the tens of thousands of stories. If someone has one out there, please know that this wasn't an attempt at plagiarism and if it is extremely close, I will take my story down.

I hope you enjoyed it.
