PROLOGUE
Sollux Captor hated math class. And every other class he was forced to take.
It wasn't because he was bad at it or anything. In fact, he hated it because he was too good. Miss Houlter Couldn't teach him anything else - everything she tried to teach him, he already knew. Anything any teacher could teach him, he got right away. But still, they made him stay.
Not only were the classes hell, but most of the people were assholes. Not a lot of negative attention was directed toward Sollux himself, but the way they didn't pay attention in class, and jeered and poked fun at each other really pissed him off. At one point, he'd actually threatened a girl in class for bashing Feferi Pexies, calling her a 'slut' because she was 'too pretty'. He'd nearly been suspended, his words had been so violent. Sure, she was stunning, but that was no reason to target someone. Fef had reprimanded him later.
Sollux had his elbows rested on the desk in front of him, his head plopped in his hands. To the others, it would look like he was paying attention, but behind the 3D glasses that he wore to cover his eyes - one a peculiar caramel brown, the other a pale, silvery blue - his focus was on some random corner of the room. Whenever he was to look at Feferi, she'd give him a look like an angry mother, as if to say; Sollux Captor, pay attention! No, I don't care if you know it already! You're already being closely watched!
Despite this, Sollux would simply sigh and stare into the distance again. It was only when time neared the end of class, and he picked up something about a new-old student, that he looked up, vaguley intrigued. He only caught the name - it was all it took for him to immediately look off again, like if he didn't hear it, it wouldn't happen. Little did he know, that one name was going to chang his life. Permanently. It would bring him ups and downs, good days and bad days. Regardless, his life was going to change. Big time.
