Prologue
Falling in love, isn't that what it's all about?
A teenager dreams of finding love – being with that one person who makes you absolutely happy, the one person with whom you can forget everything and just be free. How romantic.
Is it always, though?
Love is not perfect. Love is far, far away from perfect.
Love is messy, love is complicated, love is stubborn, love is annoying, love is painful, love is a nuisance, but love is… love. Love is pure, love is true, love is freedom, love is courage, love is togetherness, love is indescribable, and love is… love.
It's the whole process of it that makes it worthwhile, the 'falling in love'. It's made up of moments, moments which build up your past, present, and future.
And love is nothing like you've imagined.
Love disappoints, love is what you never wanted but at the same time, what you truly ever wanted.
That's what the whole story; the whole journey is all about anyway. It's about love, about falling in love. And it is full of surprises.
Can you fall in love with someone you absolutely despise? Yes. Let me show you how.

She took angry strides, stomping her boots on the mud, the rain falling heavily above her. Both her hands engulfed herself in a tight hug as she let out chilly breaths. Her long, scarlet hair was dripping wet, her mascara running down, her cheeks soaked and eyes puffed from all that crying.
She couldn't believe herself, how could she have been so naïve? The Erza Scarlet, and naïve? She would never get over this, and he would pay. Oh, oh yes. He would definitely pay for all that he did.
He ruined her, her whole life. He entered her world and turned everything upside down. She hated him. She hated him.
Gray Fullbuster.
The very same name which would once make her blush, now made her furious. He knew what he was doing all along, yet he didn't stop. Why would he? It was all his plan. Everything. All of it.
Now he had done it. He had made her life miserable. Not just her, but her friend's too. She hoped he was happy. Oh, he should be! Wasn't this what he wanted anyway?
"I won't allow it," she silently whispered to herself, teeth clenched. "I won't allow him to win. No, he may have won this round, but he hasn't won the game. I will make sure I make him suffer for all that he has done. I will make sure he regrets it all so bad. I owe this to myself, and to him as well."
"Gray Fullbuster," she clenched her fist so tight that it hurt, but right now that didn't matter, "I hate you. I hate you. Oh, I really do hate you."
"I absolutely despise you."
