Harvey sat at his desk, just looking over some files, nothing interesting. It was late and he knew he should be getting home soon, but he was far too concentrated on what he was doing at the moment to care. Hence the reason he hardly noticed when his office door opened and shut behind someone.

"Harvey..."

He looked up, knowing that was Mike's voice and immediately felt his heart stop for a second at what he saw.

Mike was cut up, bruised, his shirt tattered, and was swaying dangerously while holding onto the wall for support.

"Mike what-?" Harvey began but Mike was going down. Fast.

But before Mike could introduce his face to the carpet, Harvey had leapt up and was hurrying over to catch him.

With surprising strength, Harvey caught the younger man in his arms and slowly dragged him over to the couch.

"Mike. Michael. Wake up." Harvey said uncomfortably, slapping Mike lightly across the face.

Harvey looked around for assistance, anyone to sort this kid out so he wouldn't have to, but everyone else had gone home.

Sighing, Harvey realized he'd have to do this himself, he slapped Mike again, repeating his name in hopes of recieving some sort of response.

"Michael. Can you hear me? WAKE UP."

Mike heard Harvey's voice echoing across his unconscious mind. The words drifted slowly through the fog of Mike's brain before it finally cleared and he could decipher what it was saying.

Finally understanding, he thought it best to respond. He blinked his eyes open, staring blearily around the room which was still a little blurry, looking for the speaker.

He squeezed his eyes shut and upon opening them his vision was in clearer focus, enabling him to identify Harvey kneeling beside him.

"Harvey..." Mike mumbled groggily.

"Mike. What happened to you?" Harvey demanded impatiently.

"I think I was mugged." Mike replied slowly, trying to recall what had happened.

Instinctively, he checked his pockets and realizing his wallet was missing, he nodded to confirm his previous statement.

He sat up slowly, noting that the room was only spinning a little bit now.

"You're bleeding." Harvey said plainly with a sigh.

"Where?"

"Your head. What were you hit with?"

"...No idea."

Harvey sighed once more and said, though it was unneccessary, "Stay here."

Mike nodded, rubbing his head.

Harvey speed-walked through the office, making a beeline towards Louis's office. He knew Louis would have at least some medical tape among his allergy medications.

He searched through his desk and... Bingo.

Rushing back to his own office, he found Mike feeling the spot of his head that was bleeding gingerly, and shivering a bit as he caught sight of the scarlet fluid.

Harvey slapped his hand away and ruffling through his hair he found the source of the bleeding and taped the little bastard. Feeling it was secure enough he said,

"C'mon, I'll give you a ride home."

"Harvey, I'm okay, you don't have to-" But Mike disproved his case by attempting to stand up and failing miserably as his knees trembled violently causing him to fall.

Harvey grabbed him by the arm and half dragged him to his car.

Driving towards Mike's house Harvey said, not taking his deathstare off the road,

"You're a real pain in my ass, you know that?"

"Yeah, I know." Mike replied with a smile.

He was smiling for two reasons. One, Harvey's deathstare looked funny when focused on an innocent windshield. Second, though the actual mugging had been a painful, generally unpleasant experience, Harvey hadn't failed him. He knew once he managed to pick himself up off the pavement that Harvey was the only person who could help. And he'd come through.

And maybe even cared a little when he did it. Harvey did care.

Even if he wouldn't admit it.
