A/N: I was bored, this is how most of my stories come about. Might not be that good. But I won't know until you tell me, please R & R. Whether you like or not, take a look at another story of mines instead. :)
Summary: Harry and Hermione are having a conversation one night in the Common Room. Hermione acts like… herself, and starts pestering a slightly depressed and disgruntled Harry. He's been ignoring the world all day and that's usually not a good sign.
Disclaimer: Doesn't the word Disclaimer say it all??? Not Mine!
What do you want Harry?
"What do you want Harry?"
"I want to be left alone, that's what I want."
"Be serious Harry"
"I am"
I'm being as serious as I can be. I wished they'd leave me alone. "They" is everybody.
"Tell me what you're thinking right now? I know you're thinking something."
"Just drop it ok"
"I want to know Harry"
"That sounds like something that I can't help you with"
"You know very well, that you're the only one who can help me."
"I want everyone to leave me alone. There I said it. I'm serious. I wish everything and everybody would leave me alone. I just want to be normal"
I don't know when my voice got as loud as it did, but when I was done you could here a pin drop in the common room. Well it was empty except for me and Hermione, but still, you think I would've woken someone up.
"So you don't want to be the boy who lived?"
"No"
"And of course you wish, Voldermort never killed your parents."
"Of course"
"And you wish you didn't have that scar"
"Yea"
"You also don't wish we had all those adventures then"
"well er… not exactly"
"And you don't wish that Hagrid never rescued from the Dursleys"
"Wait a minute that only happened because of Voldermort, same thing with our adventures"
"Do you regret Hagrid coming to get you, or what?"
"No, of course I'm glad Hagrid got me"
"Do you wish you had never met the Weasley's or me?"
"No, I couldn't imagine my life without you guys, really, I mean-"
Damn Hermione and her logic. She had somehow managed to get me to admit to… something.
"Well?"
"Well what?"
"What are you thinking now?"
" (Sigh) I'm thinking that, even though I wish a lot of things hadn't happened to me, if they hadn't… I probably wouldn't be as happy about what I do have."
"So I ask you again Harry, what do you want?"
"I want… I want… er… I don't know ok"
"Sometimes the grass isn't always greener, it's just different Harry"
"Right"
We were both quiet. She got up to leave. Her sudden movement made me realize something.
"Wait, I know what I want"
"Tell me"
"Actually I know what I don't want"
"Ok…"
"I don't want anyone else I know to die because of Voldermort, and I don't want to have to worry about not being able to get rid of him"
"Ok…"
"So what I really want, is a happy ending"
"There, now isn't that a better answer than before?"
"Yeah it is, I feel better too."
"Good, and anytime times get rough, think about what you want, and remember that you really can't get what you want unless you stop and figure out what that really is"
"Where do you come up with this stuff?"
"Simple I know what I want, and this is a part of that, good night Harry"
She tried to leave, and almost made it before I realized I should ask her something.
"Can I ask you a question now?"
"I thought you'd never ask"
"What do you want Hermione?"
"I want you to be happy, Harry, I just want you to be happy."
"Why?"
"The whole world depends on it really, doesn't it?"
"But is that really why?"
"And because I…"
I walked over to Hermione so swiftly, that I surprised both her and myself. I kissed her.
"What was that for?"
"For wanting what I want"
"But you want a happy ending"
"Can't have a happy ending unless I'm happy can I?"
I kissed her again.
"Well if that's what you want Harry"
"Yes Hermione, that's exactly what I want."
The End
Short, Sweet, Done!
