A/N: This is a deleted scene of sorts for Chapter 5 of Stop the World. (:
Becca was bored. No, that was putting it lightly. She was extremely bored. Working at her Aunt Ivy's restaurant was great, she got paid just the same as any other employee, got free food on her break, and it was never too crowded to get annoying.
This particular Friday night was pretty slow, only a few table occupied. She was sitting on her stool behind the podium, like she always did. Her phone in hand, responding to something stupid her friend sent her. She heard the door open, but didn't bother to look up. If they really want a table, they'll make their presence known.
She heard one of them clear their throat. Then, "Um, Becks, you know you're supposed to be working right? Not texting?"
She looked up and saw her brother. A huge grin now housed on her face. "BLAINE!"
"Hey, Becks." He smiled back at her.
"What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be at school? Who's this?" She fired questions at Blaine.
"I'm on a date. They let us out of the dorms you know, and this is Kurt...my date." He answered.
"A date?" A smug look took over her face. "Kurt, yeah?" Kurt nodded. "I'm Rebecca, Becca for short and Becks to family." She stuck out her hand. "I'm Blaine's sister, nice to meet you."
Kurt gaped at her for a second before composing himself and shaking her hand. "Nice to meet you, too."
"Becks, can you stop harassing Kurt and just show us to our table, like you're supposed to be doing." She knew he wasn't really annoyed with her. He could never really be annoyed with her, he just liked to pretend that he could.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever." She picked up two menus from the table behind the podium and led them around the divider to the dinning area. "Be good, Blainers. Don't do anything I wouldn't do." She gave her brother a wink and pulled her phone out of her pocket as she turned and walked back to the front of the restaurant.
Rounding the corner back to the front entry of the restaurant, she almost ran into her Aunt. "Who's that with Blaine?"
"His date." She waggled her eyebrows at her Aunt. "His name is Kurt."
"Hmm," Ivy looked around the partition, raising a questioning eyebrow. "How much time should I give 'em before I go over and embarrass the crap out of him?" She turned back to her niece, smile wide across her face.
"Um, maybe awhile." Becca was suddenly very serious. Ivy's smile fell as she turned to face the boys again and saw why. The expression on Blaine's face was heart breaking. "I think Kurt didn't know about me. He looked kind of shocked when I told him I was Blaine's sister. Maybe he asked about me."
"Maybe. I'll give them some time." She turned back to Becca. "Let me know when you think it's safe, Becks." She gave her niece a small smile and made her way back to the kitchen.
Becca would have to talk to Blaine later about Kurt, and ask him what they talked about. She knew he was going to need all the support he could get, especially if this relationship with Kurt was serious.
