Paola leans back against the grass, gazing up at the sky as the last traces of pink and violet give way to darkness. Her favorite thing to do after a long day is sit outside and wait for the stars to come out. It's not the stargazing she enjoys so much as it is the waiting, though, odd as it's always seemed.

Suddenly, she hears footsteps and realizes she's not alone.

"Sir Kain?"

"You don't mind if I join you, I hope? This has always been my favorite time of the day," he says. Paola smiles.

"I don't mind," she said. He lies down beside her, yawning a little.

"This may sound strange, but...I've always liked waiting for the stars to come. Just the waiting," he says. Paola's eyes widen.

"I've always thought I was the only one." She blushes slightly.

"We always think that until someone comes along to prove us wrong," Kain says, and they both laugh. Quietly, his hand reaches for hers, and their fingers touch just as the sky darkens completely and the crickets begin to play their song.
