There was nothing else to see, to feel.
The darkness had closed in, like a living thing.
'Was it always so dark when I closed my eyes?'
'Or is this darkness from within?'
Even the thoughts came through as black.
Was that his heart, almost beating?
'Why do I still hurt?'
Do dead people feel the memories of pain?
With no up or down, there is only here, this place, now.
'If I can't go forward, can I please go back?'
