IN DEEP
Dean is thankful when it appears he is only going to drown.
-oOo-

"Yup, definitely in deep shit Winchester, pun not intended."

Standing with his back to the uneven, slick, cavern wall, arms stretched up high, wrists shackled together, Dean gazed again at the line where the damp on the walls ended. Sea water was already sploshing around his knees as the tide came in and the water mark was a good six foot above his head. Given that he was unlikely to suddenly learn how to breathe underwater, Dean figured he was all over in poop. He tugged again at his chains in the desperate hope he might, by some miracle, dislodge the bolt fixing his shackles to the cavern wall, but still not feeling the smallest of give. The wide entrance to the cavern was no more than a few feet away, the bright sunny day outside mocking him. The water had risen to his thighs, the push of the incoming tide trying to dislodge his feet, he was getting colder. He began to wonder, which would be worse? Losing the desperate battle to keep his head above water, knowing he couldn't keep holding his breath, knowing that very soon he would have to breathe in cold seawater? Or a great white cruising into the cavern and snacking on him before he could drown? Dean shivered, not with the cold, annoyed at himself for thinking sharks. He'd settle for drowning please.

With the water level at his shoulders, seawater splishing and splashing up his nose whenever a wave broke around him, Dean thought at least he was getting his wish. Until he noticed a swirl on the water's surface at the cavern entrance that had nothing to do with the waves of the incoming tide.

"Sonovabitch!"

A pointless rage at the universe.

"Just couldn't help yourself, could you? Had to have one last laugh? Well screw you!"

His mouth dried when he zoned in on the long, dark shadow beneath the water, his heart rate leaping as it got closer.

"Ok bitch, bring it."

The instant the lean shadow was within range, he kicked out, hard as he could through the water's pressure, scoring a hit that had the shark breaking the surface in front of him.

"Dean! Why the Hell are you freakin'kicking me?"
