Now without further ado…. Daddy's Girl
"DAAAADDYYY!"
Roy Harper's heart breaks in two when he hears his daughter's wails. He opens his girl's bedroom door, almost overcome in anger and worry- anger at whoever did this to his angel and worry for his daughter.
Little Lian Harper, age 6, red hair and blue eyes (for those of you who don't know, she's Roy and Jade's daughter in the comics, but I'm gonna change her appearence a bit.) is on her bed crying her eyes out. In a motion so fast it would impress Wallace Rudolph West himself, Roy snatches up his daughter and cradles her in his arms.
"Shh, Li, shh. What's wrong?"
The girl sniffs and swipes at her eyes with her slightly pudgy fists.
"Angel, come on." Roy implores. "Did someone hurt you?"
Lian shakes her head. "N-no Daddy, it's just- it's Father's Day and- and- and I have nothing to get you! I'm a bad daughter!"
Roy feels a rush of relief. No one's hurt his little girl. "Lian, Angel, who told you that?"
"N-no one." Roy carries her to the kitchen and sits her down on the marble counter top. He hands her a tissue and tells her to blow before replying.
"Li, you're six years old! All I want for Father's Day is you. At the most, you can make me a card or something." That said, he sits down on the counter beside his daughter and wipes away the last of her tears. "Angel, all I want is you." He flashes a grin. "That sounded cheesy, didn't it?"
She giggles. "Really?
"Really." her father replies, softly flicking her nose with the end of his calloused fingers. "Now. How much does Daddy love you, Li?"
Lian stretches out her arms as far as they go. "This much!"
"Pshh!" Roy says, waving a hand dismissively. "That's pathetic. Daddy loves you way more than that!"
"Nuh-uh!" Lian shakes her head. "I love you more!"
Roy arches an eybrow. "Angel... How many times have we had this discussion?"
"A bunch."
"Yeah." Roy scratches his chin before rubbing at the day old stubble. "And how many times've you won?"
Lian grins at him, both her front teeth missing. She copies her father, waving a tiny hand in the air. "Whatever, Daddy. I still love you more!"
Roy sweeps her up and carries her to the couch, dropping her down on the cushions.
Peals of laughter float around the apartment as the little girl is attacked by her father's tickling fingers.
