" Are you sure Soul, I won't mind if you needed it." Maka said sitting down on the bed beside him.
"Yeah, I'm sure. Stop worrying." The reply was not unexpected. Maka sighed.
"You're just saying that aren't you soul, you don't have to-"
"Maka, seriously, I'm fine. Stein wouldn't have let me go if I wasn't."
"Yeah, but, he also said you still need rest. That's why he pulled me from class, to take care of you like I promised." Soul had only been back at the apartment he shared with his Meister for an hour and Maka had already begun to fuss.
"That doesn't mean I'm- look, I know you want me to be okay, and I will be. But you can't keep stressing yourself out of it. It happened, it was scary, but It's over, I'm home, It's okay." Soul didn't know how to make her understand.
"I just don't want to lose you.'
"You won't."
"I know that, but the fear is still there. If I leave you alone-"
"I might get some sleep, but I'd wake up again. Because you made that possible. You don't have to sit by my bed all day. Go watch TV or read a book, grab a snack. Do something."
"I want to be here for you Soul. It was my fault you got hurt, then it gave you an infection, you still have a little fever." Maka fretted running her fingers through his hair.
"Maka, you can't keep being afraid of this."
"But you haven't gotten much strength back, if I you don't get what you need-" tears filled the girl's eyes.
"Then give me what I need. Show me you're strong and I'll take what I need from you. I'm not helpless."
"I know that, I-"
"You just feel guilty. You're not. It's never easy to go through something like that. You did it though, and I'm proud to be your weapon partner, but you can't beat yourself up over this. It won't do you any good. It won't be good for me either. How can you expect me to rest if I'm worried about you?"
"You'll have to rest, you're still healing, if you don't-"
"Maka, come down here for a second." Maka sniffled but leaned down until her face was nearly touching his.
"What's wrong soul?" She could feel her hands shaking.
"I can't lose you, I-I love you so mu-" Soul silenced her with a kiss. Maka closed her eyes. She was admittedly and pleasantly surprised. Her hands stopped shaking almost instantly. Soul seemed to notice and ended the kiss. Maka opened her eyes, looking into his.
"I love you too. Now no more tears, okay?"
" No more tears." Maka whispered back.
"Good. Do you trust me?"
"Yes."Maka replied without hesitation.
"Then believe me when I tell you that everything's fine. I'm not going anywhere, because I'm exactly where I should be."
Maka laid her head on his chest, the steady beat of his heart calming her. Maka could have stayed there forever. She had promised to become strong for him, and she was slowly learning that her strength could be found in Soul.
A/N: I hadn't intended to write anymore Soul Eater Fanfictions, but looking at my second ending to Saving Soul, the idea came to me. I know It's short. But I hope you enjoyed it anyway. I'm sorry if they're too much out of character. Thank you for reading. As always, I don't own Soul Eater.
