A/N: Okay wow this is a really old one shot. I've been going through my old writing blog (aviwrites on Tumblr) and found a couple of things that I never got around to posting here, so I'm going to do that now. They're mostly one shots.
Anyway, this was a prompt I got: hey so i have a prompt for some spn fluff if you want to write it: high school au (i have a weakness for hs aus), cas is walking home from school and sees dean and sam looking at a box on the side of the road (box of abandoned kittens, of course) - cas takes them home and sam and dean come and help him take care of them, even though dean usually has to keep some distance because he's allergic~
I loved it so much I had to do it.

"The whole box, man. I still can't believe it."
"Guess your boyfriend has a soft spot for cats."
"He's not my boyfriend!"
Sam and Dean Winchester made their way to their friend's house on a Friday afternoon. Cas was disappointed in leaving them behind to get on the bus, but the brothers insisted on walking to their house first to pick up a few things before coming over. Besides, Cas had a dozen kittens to get back to at home.
A few days ago, Sam and Dean came across a box filled with abandoned cats while walking home after school. Castiel stopped by just as the brothers began arguing over what to do with the lot of them, and offered to take the entire box of kittens to his own house, much to the brothers' surprise. Since then Cas had been taking care of the kittens, and Sam and Dean made a promise to check in today.
It took Cas almost an entire minute to come and open the door when the brothers rang the bell. There was a ginger cat in his arms but he smiled at them and said, "Hey guys. Come on in."
The two of them said their hellos and stepped inside. They kicked off their shoes and sat on the couch, shooing away a cat that had been lounging there. Sam reached into his bag. Dean sneezed.
"I got you some catnip," Sam said, holding up a grocery bag he pulled from his backpack. "Should last you a couple weeks."
"Thank you, Sam." Castiel took the bag and looked inside. The cat in his arms leaped a little too close to Dean, who leaned away from it.
Dean looked up. "Have you told your dad about all of this?"
His friend shook his head. "My dad's out of town for a business trip again. I haven't worked up the courage to call him about it."
Dean nodded. He never actually met Cas's dad. Apparently he was absent for most of Cas's life because of his work, but from the stories he heard he was supposed to be a really important business. There was always some sort of a new opportunity happening.
"Alright. We'll figure something out," the older of the two brothers reassured, and then scratched his nose, which was now turning pink at its tip.
Castiel's face contorted into worry. "Are you okay? You look kind of sickā¦"
Sam looked between the two, and then smirked when he saw his brother's condition. "It's fine. Dean just has a minor allergy to cat fur."
Cas's eyes widened. Dean looked like he was about to punch his brother in the face.
"You never told me that."
The elder brother looked away. "You never asked."
Another cat crawled onto Dean's lap and sat there, content and comfortable with its new sleeping spot. Dean straightened uncomfortably and sneezed again. Castiel laughed suddenly, and both brothers looked up at him, confused.
"Sorry," he said. "You just sound like a kitten when you sneeze."
Dean's expression became flustered. "Do not."
"Do too."
