It was the last day of the HSC exams of the third semester. Everyone was happy as they did their best and they knew how the results would be. Lucy was thinking of going out to celebrate it with Natsu, her best friend. They were of the same age, same class though studying different subjects and also they lived in the same city. But they were not dating. They were only best friends. Actually both of them had feelings for each other. Natsu was already aware of his feelings for Lucy, however Lucy was unaware of the feelings she had for Natsu.
After school, Lucy waited for Natsu, but she did not see him. She stopped one of her friends to ask them about him but the answer was negative. So she thought of calling him, but every time her calls were being rejected. She was somehow disappointed as this was the first time that Natsu was doing this with her. She became very angry with him and therefore she decided to go home alone.
But on the way to home, she finally saw Natsu. He was with another girl. This girl was one year less than them. Her name was Sylvia. Sylvia had a crush on Natsu and all her friends knew it. What actually happened was that this girl was really jealous of Lucy, because they were always together. Therefore she proposed Natsu to come with her after school as she wanted to reveal him her feelings.
And Natsu was normally polite, so he could not refuse her. But Natsu was unaware of the feelings that Sylvia held for him. On the way, she grabbed his arm. Sure Natsu felt a little guilty and strange but he did not tell her anything. After some minutes walking together, talking on each other, she kissed Natsu suddenly on his lips and at that precise time Lucy was in the bus way to home which was passing near them. Lucy saw these two together and that too when Sylvia was kissing Natsu. She felt a pain in her heart when she saw this, but she could not fathom this pain.
And for Natsu, he could not guess that Lucy saw them as he was repelling Sylvia and asked her what was she doing.
"I was kissing you, of course", replied Sylvia.
"But why?" asked Natsu.
"Because I love you Natsu."
"What?"
"Yes, I love you and you too you have the same feelings for me, right?"
"I do have the same feelings, but not for you, it's for some-"
"What? But when I grabbed your arm, when I asked you to walk with me after school, why could you not refuse? And I thought that you too, you love me."
"I think of you as a friend and because of you I did not wait for Lucy."
"Oh! So you love Lucy, right? That's why you're always with her."
"Yes, I love only and only Lucy and not anyone else. I'm sorry but that's the truth."
After hearing this, Sylvia ran away in tears, without looking back. And for Natsu, he felt really guilty, not because of the truth but because of not waiting for his beloved and for ignoring her today. What he did not know was that Lucy had already seen them kissing though it was a mistake and she was really deceived though.
